http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Akane_Iro_Ni_Somaru_Saka_4070.jpg Junichi Nagase is known around town as the feared "Geno Killer". One day while out for a walk, he saves a girl from some delinquents trying to cause trouble. That girl was Yuuhi Katagiri. In a fit of impulse, Junichi ends up kissing her, only to find out that because his parents saved her father some time ago, she is now engaged to be his fiancee. Yuuhi then starts living in his house to try and assemble a report on Junichi to prove to her father why they shouldn't be married. The rest of Junichi's class goes to great lengths to tease the couple, so as it goes, HilarityEnsues. ''Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka'' ("The Hill Dyed Rose Madder") is a 2007 VisualNovel by feng. A TwelveEpisodeAnime adaptation also aired as part of the Fall 2008 lineup, as well as a 2-volume manga adaptation running 2008-2009. A PlayStation2 port with a new voice cast (based on the anime) and [[BleachedUnderpants a more family-friendly version]], ''Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka Parallel'', was released about a year later, which was eventually ported to the PlayStationPortable on 2009. ---- !!Tropes in ''Akasaka'' include: * AllJustADream: Once the OVA ends, there follows a random and unexpected sequence of ''Akane-iro'' suddenly becoming a mecha show. It was all in Junichi's head. * AnguishedDeclarationOfLove: Yuuhi forces Minato to say one when [[spoiler: she suspects Minato may have feelings of love for Junichi, her brother.]] * AnimeThemeSong: Two endings/{{Image Song}}s apiece for the six main girls in the show, bringing it to a total of twelve. ** But poor Mikoto... * ArrangedMarriage * AscendedExtra: Two ways. Mikoto Tachibana is a side character in previous game of feng, named ''Aozora no Mieru Oka''. On the other hand Minato and her friend [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname Yocchan]] appear in next game HoshizoraEKakaruHashi, [[spoiler:and Yocchan is even promoted in incoming fandisk of that game!]] * BattleCouple: Junichi's parents are almost always seen doing some kind of action movie sequence stuff. His sister also seems to know survival training, although she mentions she spent some years in the jungle with their parents while Junichi stayed home in Japan. * BeachEpisode: The bonus OVA. * BromanticFoil: Fuyuhiko for Jun'ichi. * BrotherSisterIncest: Jun'ichi and Minato are teased and accused of this by everybody, though they continually deny it. Much incest {{ship tease}} ensues. [[spoiler:In the anime, Minato wins. So they were completely right.]] But what their blood relation is to each other is not clear in the anime, and when you start looking at the games themselves, it gets dicier. ** The original PC version, released in late 2007, confirms that they are blood-related. ** The all-ages [=PS2=] (from which the anime shares its voice cast with) and [=PSP=] versions, however, confirm the opposite. In these two versions, they are NotBloodSiblings. * ButtMonkey: Junichi, although sometimes he borders TheChewToy due to the fact that he largely doesn't deserve his reputation. * CaughtTheHeartOnHisSleeve: Yuuhi does this to Junichi in episode 10. * CatchPhrase: Yuuhi has "I'll have you dead!", a translation of her very formal way of making IneffectualDeathThreats. ** Nagomi also has her "Well, what's up?", or maybe something similar. * ClingyJealousGirl: Late in the anime, Karen and [[spoiler: Minato]] both get kind of jealous of Yuuhi once Junichi starts making it clear that he likes her. However, they don't do much besides make some [[BlatantLies silly excuses, such as not recognizing their relationship]], in Karen's case, or not saying much and sulking privately in [[spoiler: Minato's]] case. * CovertPervert: Karen's mind immediately assumes the worst about Yuuhi and Junichi in episode 11. As Nagomi says, "in these situations, the one who gets the most excited is also the dirtiest." ** Also Junichi. * {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Nagomi Shiraishi, who claims to be "nine parts tsun and never dere with humans". [[spoiler: Of course, she may be an alien. Or rather, ''they'' may be aliens.]] * DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: Apparently no one cares when Yuuhi beats up Junichi, even when he didn't really do anything wrong. * DudeLooksLikeALady: Aya Fujimiya, a side character only found in all games. * FanService: The "Hardcore" OVA. '''''Holy shit'''''. * FirstKiss: Junichi does this to Yuuhi in the very first episode, while surrounded by classmates. Their friends don't let them (and sometimes each other) [[NeverLiveItDown forget about it]]. * FishOutOfWater: Yuuhi * FirstGirlWins: But it still depends on the viewpoint. [[spoiler: Minato was technically the first girl in his life, but Yuuhi was the first girl we see.]] So, it's both [[spoiler: averted ''AND'' played straight at the same time]] * FriendToAllLivingThings / FluffyTamer: Minato, who makes friends with the bears instead of being devoured. * {{Gainaxing}}: Tsukasa, oh so much. * HotSpringsEpisode: With {{bears|AreBadNews}}. * HumongousMecha: Episode 7 has one. The buildup to it leans towards awesome, then HilarityEnsues when it turns into a SpecialEffectsFailure. * IdiotHair: Karen has three, one in each direction. * LethalChef: When Yuuhi cooks, things tend to explode. * LoveEpiphany: Minato has one of these after seeing Junichi and Yuuhi having a good time later. * MegatonPunch: Yuuhi likes to deliver these to Junichi. * NamesToKnowInAnime: And also the family-friendly PS2 and PSP ports. ** Creator/WataruHatano as Jun'ichi Nagase (anime only) ** Creator/RieKugimiya as Yuuhi Katagiri ** Creator/AyaHirano as Minato Nagase ** Creator/MarinaInoue as Tsukasa Kiryu ** Creator/RyoHirohashi as Nagomi Shiraishi ** Creator/RieTanaka as Mitsuki Shiina ** ErinoHazuki as Mikoto Tachibana ** Creator/EmiriKatou as Karen Ayanokouji ** Creator/AkiraIshida as Fuyuhiko Nishino ** Creator/RikiyaKoyama as Seijirou Sugishita * NoblewomansLaugh: Karen. * NotBloodSiblings: Played with through the adaptations. PS2 game has this trope, anime has it being hinted at, yet the PC game averts this. * {{Ojou}}: Karen Ayanokouji, complete with OjouRinglets and a NoblewomansLaugh. Tries ''way'' too hard to impress. Yuuhi as well, though it's not her dominant character type. * OjouRinglets: Karen * ParentalAbandonment: Apparently Junichi and Minato are used to their parents never being home. However, we do get to see what the parents are doing from time to time, and they at least send Junichi a birthday present for his birthday. And judging from the house they live in, it seems they are at least showing some token support/love for the kids. ** In both versions of game, [[spoiler:Mitsuki's father is dead, in different situations]]. * PeekABangs: Nagomi * PeopleInRubberSuits: Karen tries to orchestrate a mock stage show of her versus an octopus monster, which ends up going down in flames. Literally. Yuuhi panicked and set off the fireworks too early. * PornStash: Yuuhi discovers Junichi's while snooping around his room. Minato knows ''all'' his hiding places, to her surprise. * PortmanteauSeriesNickname: "Akasaka", as christened in the all-ages ports. * RapunzelHair: Karen * SacredFirstKiss: Junichi gives Yuuhi her first one without thinking. * SchoolFestival: It may not be [[Anime/CodeGeass Ashford Academy]], but thanks to Mitsuki's mischief, Junichi gets to pilot a HumongousMecha... which immediately collapses. * SchoolNewspaperNewshound: Tsukasa, the camera-happy type of girl. * {{Sensei-chan}}: A rare male variant with Sugishita-sensei, an ex-thug and now a teacher who's academically strict, but also eccentric. * ShroudedInMyth: The legends of Junichi's reign as the "Geno Killer" are still spreading thanks in no part to his friends, who still remember him as that blond-dyed punk back in junior high school rather than the ordinary boy he is today. * ShutUpKiss: Yuuhi demands another "first kiss" from Junichi because she felt the first one didn't really count. She then goes on to berate him some more before he does this. * SkinshipGrope: As with any HotSpringsEpisode, it happens. * StudentCouncilPresident: Mitsuki * TheoryOfNarrativeCausality: Discussed. Fuyuhiko mentions that "theory dictates" Yuuhi should be assigned the seat next to Junichi. * {{Tsundere}}: Yuuhi. Enforced by the fact that she's voiced by none other than RieKugimiya, despite having a decent teenage body. ** While Nagomi is the [[TokenMiniMoe loli]] role, claiming that she's not dere. * UpdatedRerelease: [=PS2=] and [=PSP=] port. Justified that they have a different story from PC version and anime. * UpperClassTwit: Karen * YumYum: All the girls in the OVA. Perfectly justified, since most of them apparently intend to perform a fellatio. * ZettaiRyouiki: The girls wear these as part of their school uniform. ----
