* JamesBondage: Frederic. Seems to run in the family.

* LovedINotHonorMore: [[spoiler: Asbel and Cheria]] develop this relationship. The former has a duty to his hometown, the latter wants to do humanitarian work around the world. Both of them want to be together, and are willing to wait despite the separation.

* MoodWhiplash: The entire game -- and the prologue alone is a good start -- is littered with moments of severe solemnity immediately followed with some silliness. One notable example is towards the end of the game where you're trying to retrieve something to save a failing humanoid whose only wish is to continue living. [[spoiler:You're too late and she dies. Then when you try to exit, you're greeted with a skit where Pascal has Sophie use her photonic powers to snap Cheria's bra strap]]. Yeah, it's that game.
* MoreDakka: Lambda's Shooting Stars spam.

game.

** [[spoiler:Lambda's ability to [[DemonicPossession possess other people]]]] has already inspired much fan art and doujinshi. The HoYay does not help one bit.

** President Paradine of Strahta has no problem working with foreign agents as long as it's for the good of Strahta.
*** The first time you meet him? Dressed as and acting like a civilian. Another NPC notes he frequently does this just to spend time with his people.
** It's implied the chancellor of Fendel becomes one; however President Paradine plays more of a role.

Added DiffLines:

** An earlier occurrence of this is that Asbel swore revenge on a door within a secret passage he couldn't open as a child; cue the seven-year time skip, and sure enough, he opens it with ease after recalling his childhood. He even lampshades on the fact that he wondered if it was always this easy.

* TheDevTeamThinksOfEverything:
** By using NewGamePlus and the BalefulPolymorph titles, you can use Artes and characters you shouldn't have at certain points of the game. Two characters are given new quotes for their Mystic Artes if used before ''Lineage and Legacies'', as certain events have not yet transpired: [[spoiler:Asbel for his Level 4 Mystic Arte, where he summons Lambda]], and [[spoiler:Richard's latter three Mystic Artes, as his original quotes reference him being a king]].
** If Malik uses his Level 3 Mystic Arte to finish off the FinalBoss of the main story arc, he says something like "You'll be the last victim of this technique!" to his enemy. Of course, he can still use it in ''Lineage and Legacies'', at which point [[BrickJoke Sophie calls him out on it]] (and he responds with a stone-faced {{Blatant Lie|s}}).
** You can unlock a bonus skit called ''Enough With The Water!'' if you spend too long jumping in and out of the water canals in the Seaside Cavern, in which Cheria [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall complains about your nonsensical actions and lack of progress]].
** There is a sidequest in Yu Liberte where a wealthy couple mistake Sophie as their missing daughter. If you trigger this sidequest before you go to [[spoiler:Fodra (or even learning of its existence)]], Asbel will be overjoyed at the prospect of finally finding Sophie's family and learning about her MysteriousPast. If you trigger this sidequest after your journey to [[spoiler:Fodra, where you learn TheReveal that Sophie is actually an alien robot]], Asbel has the opposite reaction and tries to convince the couple that they're mistaken. The post-quest cutscene is also played out differently.
** Some of [[spoiler: Richard's]] animations are mirror images of when he's [[spoiler: succumbed to Lambda]] in the main game, compared to when he's completely himself in L&L. This includes a victory pose with [[spoiler: Sophie]], and his Mystic Artes: [[spoiler: Vertex Rose and Bloody Rose]]. In the former, he's poised, calm and in control. In the latter, he's hunched over, savage, and losing control.

* SpiritualSuccessor: In an aesthetic sense. Artistically and musically, this game has much in common with ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss'' as opposed to other ''Franchise/TalesSeries'' titles. The ''stories'', however, couldn't be more different if they tried. ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss'' is effectively about CloningBlues and free will while ''Graces''' plot is pretty much "[[ThePowerOfFriendship FRIENDSHIP IS AWESOME]]".
