* ArtificialStupidity: While your AI allies are normally good at keeping their distance while casting healing artes, sometimes they will start trying to heal someone ''while'' they're within melee range of enemies. Another problem is that they'll try to heal allies with only superficial damage when you have a character on screen that's [=KOed=] and really should be revived.

* ArtificialStupidity: While your AI allies are normally good at keeping don't seem to understand spellcasting, and will rarely use combos to set up their distance spells and reduce the cast time. They also will not revive characters if anyone alive has any damage, and are generally terrible at dodging while casting healing artes, sometimes they will start trying to heal someone ''while'' they're within melee range of enemies. Another problem is that they'll try to heal allies with only superficial damage when you have a character on screen that's [=KOed=] and really should be revived.casting, even though it shouldn't hinder them.

** Some of [[spoiler: Richard's]] animations are mirror images of when he's [[spoiler: succumbed to Lambda]] in the main game, compared to when he's completely himself in L&L. This includes a victory pose with [[spoiler: Sophie]], and his Mystic Artes: [[spoiler: Vertex Rose and Bloody Rose]]. In the former, he's poised, calm and in control. In the latter, he's hunched over, savage, and losing control.

** In the ''Future Arc'', the male party members all ship Hubert/Pascal, though their methods for encouraging Hubert are [[{{Troll}} interesting]] to say the least.

* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: [[spoiler: Lamda in a nutshell, along with Richard.]] It only gets [[FromBadToWorse worse as the two merge.]]

An UpdatedRerelease for the {{PS3}} called ''Tales of Graces '' was released in December 2010 (later released in America in March 2012 and in Europe in August). The game includes the usual array of upgrades like new skits, scenes, abilities and [[LimitBreak Mystic Artes]]. By far the biggest addition is an epilogue story called "Lineage and Legacies", which adds [[spoiler:Richard]] as a fully-playable character. The party also gains an Overlimit-like ability called "Accelerate Mode," which grants unique powers to each character and gives them access to a powerful FinishingMove. Definitely worth grabbing a few siblings or friends to do multiplayer with.

* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: Remarkable in that the entire plot and back story of the game could have been avoided only if [[spoiler: Emeraude wasn't a giant bitch to Lambda.]]
** The whole deal with Asbel and Hubert [[spoiler: trying to kill one another over the leadership of Lhant]] was pretty much entirely precipitated by Aston being a huge JerkAss to his sons. Added {{Irony}}, in that most of his actions were well-intentioned as ''he was trying to prevent that exact thing from happening.''

* RememberTheNewGuy: Americans got an odd case of this. Normally, the cameo battles are of characters from previous games. While no different, the cameo characters came from Tales games Americans didn't get; so some were left perplexed when fighting them wondering who exactly they were and why were they so special.

** It's mentioned in a skit that Hubert got the inspiration for his dualblade weapon style from a comic book series he loved as a kid called [[SoulCalibur Troll Caliber]]. [[BlatantLies "Strahtan military secrets"]] indeed.
