* LighterAndSofter: The game very much wants you to marry Bianca over Nera, and in the original, it would punish you viciously for failing to do so, with Bianca becoming an abused barmaid and Crispin growing even more unhappy. In the remakes, Bianca has a number of suitors and Crispin winds up with another beautiful woman.

A deeply moving and great story following a boy through his life, with the addition of {{Mon}}s (for the better, and this game [[OlderThanTheyThink preceded]] ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}},) an element not seen in other ''VideoGame/DragonQuest'' games (not the mainstream ones, at least). It is the favorite of Yuji Horii, the creator of the series, and stands as very nearly the [[http://www.metacritic.com/game/ds/dragon-quest-v-hand-of-the-heavenly-bride best reviewed]] and critically respected game of the entire franchise.
