Added example(s)

* FeaturelessProtagonist: The player character is not usually seen and is generally addressed only as "detective" (except by Dupin, who more often addresses you as "my friend"). They have no DialogueTree until The Raven, which is the tenth installment, making it difficult to ascribe any sort of personality to the character. Also, the gender of the character is an incredibly controversial matter, as it's presented inconsistently throughout the series; see AmbiguousGender, above.

Dupin usually addresses you as "my friend"). They have no DialogueTree until friend" while other characters call you "detective." Overall, very little is revealed about the player character aside from inconsistent hints regarding their AmbiguousGender. Later games downplay this a bit by introducing dialogue options that offer some hints about the character's personality, and Nightfall eventually put a name and face to the female player character by introducing Dupin's assistant, Anna Fleurs. A newspaper article in the bonus chapter of Morella features her photograph (see it here) alongside an article about the events of The Raven, which confirming that Anna is the tenth installment, making it difficult to ascribe any sort player character of personality to the character. Also, the gender of the at least some games. The male player character is an incredibly controversial matter, as it's presented inconsistently throughout the series; see AmbiguousGender, above.seen on-screeen in Ligea, though his face is turned away from you.

Added DiffLines:

* DeathAmnesia: When wakes up after being resurrected with the Heart of the Void, he claims to have a headache and then asks what happened, implying he doesn't remember being fatally shot a few minutes prior. The player has the choice of explaining that he died or simply saying that they were attacked and he's lucky to be alive. It's implied that the amnesia is temporary, however, as he later says he remembers what happened and thanks the player for saving him.

I assume

* LuckBasedMission: Not as bad as some installments, but a few of the puzzles do fall into this. There's another 'fight' puzzle where you have to make your moves based on the hiding place of a green tile, for example.

More accurate?

* LuckBasedMission: Unusually for this series, a number of the "puzzles" are actually this. Possibly the most egregious examples come when you're experiencing the flashback testimonies of the witnesses, and you must correctly guess the pattern of blows to strike to drive off your attacker.

Renamed per TRS; other example does not have enough context

* DelicateAndSickly: Louisa [=McDougall=] is an actress who retired from the stage due to her declining health. Her diary notes that she doesn't think Mark is telling her the whole truth about her condition; sure enough, farther into the game you find the report from her doctor which indicates she has about a year to live.

** Lilly herself is this in the bonus chapter, which is set two years earlier when her birth mother was still alive.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

** Morella and, to a lesser extent, Pendulum mix it up by handing the ball to you instead. Ligeia takes it UpToEleven by handing it to both of you at the same time.
