The game received mixed reviews. While its innovative story and dialogue systems were praised, some found fault with its gameplay, graphics, and/or lack of polish. Sales were soft enough that {{Sega}} has no plans to release a sequel. [[HopeSpot However]], [[Creator/ObsidianEntertainment Obsidian]] [[http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/110277-Obsidian-Would-Like-to-Make-Another-Alpha-Protocol-Game have expressed tentative interest in making a sequel]] or SpiritualSuccessor, so who knows?

*** On the other hand [[spoiler: if you kill Shaheed, and Al-Samad falls apart, a NEW terrorist organization, the Altair insurgent group, [[ takes their place]]. And instead of attacking civilian targets, they ambush a convoy of diplomats. If Nasri is killed or arrested, the ambush fails because the Altair group was stuck using Cold War weapons, leaving the diplomats alive (although some of their guards were killed). If Nasri is let free, the convoy is completely massacred, and the peace talks in the Middle East are thrown into a tail-spin, with [[FromNobodyToNightmare the Altair group poised to conquer the region]] as a full-fledged MiddleEastCoalition. It's also implied that [[TheGhost Senator Darcy]] [[ManipulativeBastard arranged for the Altair group to butcher his political rivals]], since he avoided the doomed convoy by having a "[[PlayingSick stomach virus]]".]]

*** However, the after-effects for [[spoiler: saving Madison instead of defusing the bombs, and stopping the riots instead of saving Sung]] seem to partly, if not fully, reverse the impacts: [[spoiler: if Madison is saved, she'll [[DueToTheDead hold a candlelight vigil to honor those killed in the bomb attacks]], [[ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight and would campaign against the anti-terror laws imposed in the wake of the bombings by claiming they infringe on personal freedoms without actually providing safety]]. The aftermatch of stopping the riots is more of a BittersweetEnding, or even an outright DownerEnding, as Taiwan defuses the tensions with China by [[KnowWhenToFoldThem denouncing Sung's ultra-nationalist movement, and planning to just surrender its sovereignty to China instead of triggering a war]].]]

* LostForever: It is incredibly easy to unintentionally skip over computer terminals, dossiers, equipment, or money unless you search ''every'' area very thoroughly. Doors will sometimes close and lock behind you once you pass into a new area, cutting you off from whatever was behind you, so it's a good idea to take a minute to search every location for items. This can be ''very'' important at times. For example, if you don't hack a certain computer in "Intercept Surkov at US Embassy" and fill out all of Brayko's dossier, you won't be able to [[spoiler: question him about his connections to Surkov and thus expose him as Halbech's original contact and then break that line/recruit Surkov into your own network.]]
