* DropTheHammer: In addition to their powers, the Golems fight using huge hammers that take both of Ghat's hands to use.

* FailedState: Later in the game, multiple tablets can be read, one detailing how [[spoiler: when the ancestors of the modern Zenozoik population were exiled]], they tried to build some semblance of a civilization, the greatest and most evident being [[spoiler: the city of Halstedom]], however their society eventually degenerated for some unknown reason into the lawless wasteland seen in the game.

Given how chaotic and savage many inhabitants of Zenozoik are, it is obvious why nobody sane wants more and potentially worse chimeras.]]

* DarkerAndEdgier: The first game, despite the somewhat brutal atmosphere, ended on a EverybodyLives note, with only the already posthumous Metamoq being an exception. In the sequel, many characters die and one [[spoiler:specifically Adrance]] is left for dead by Ghat and Rimat which is notable even if they did not directly kill him. In addition, it also deals with deeper themes of mortality, forgiveness, laws, justice, and familial abuse.

* WretchedHive: Halstedom is back, and somehow even ''worse'' than it was in the previous game when it was in a state of semi-anarchy. Without The Family keeping a semblance of order, and the Enforcers not up to the task as their replacement, the situation in the massive sprawling city has deteriorated immensely to the point many are considering or are already in the process of settling elsewhere, something largely unthought of in the previous game.

Combine that with their unpredictable, distant behavior towards the mess that Ghat and the Golems stir up during the main plot, and future humanity comes off as being both deeply alien and unfathomably strong. Unlike the first game, which focused on the trials and tribulations of the Zenos, this game expands on the mysterious [[ThePrecursors Golems]] who guard the four corners of the FlatWorld that is Zenozoik and their plans for the Zenos within. As it turns out, the Golems have strife and emotional conflict of their own, and the Zenos were unlucky enough to get caught in the middle of it.

As it turns out, the Golems have strife and emotional conflict of their own, and the Zenos were unlucky enough to get caught in the middle of it.

Also unlike the first game, it is far more open. While not a true WideOpenSandbox, players have far more freedom to do what they want and even have an over-world that can be explored for secrets and collectibles in between story segments.

* AlienNonInterferenceClause: While he was not strictly forbidden from doing so, Golem was never supposed to go into Zenozoik. However, he enters Zenozoik with Ghat and Deadra, hoping to bring civilization to it. He eventually realizes this was a foolish and hopeless endeavor.
