* CloudCuckoolander: Izumi is this HARD. She regularly smashes the fourth wall to tiny bits, makes references to anything she can and has dialogue that would fit right into a DragonQuest game.

* MsExposition: Inez Fressange really likes explaining things and usually shows up out of nowhere whenever someone asks a technical question just to explain it and dissapear again. She joins the crew after chapter 3, within one or two battles other characters in the game start to comment on her love of explanations, by chapter 7 people start to openly ignore her.

* UnexpectedCharacter: Anime/TekkamanBlade, which is an anime focused on PoweredArmor instead of giant mecha, staring the trend of the "unorthodox series" for the VideoGame/SuperRobotWars franchise.

* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVersusCynicism: Played with; although the crew of the Archangel are extremely cynical, they do make sound tactical judgment and treat everything as WarIsHell. The likes of Eiji Asuka and D-Boy are justifiably downbeat, too. On the other hand, most of the others are ridiculously idealistic and despite making decisions that could get everyone killed, are always morally right. Makes perfect sense when you look at the cast.

* VillainTeamUp: The Jovian Lizards, the Gradosian Empire and Shapiro have joined forces. Gauron works for Dr. Hell and the Hau Dragon. Azrael and General Colbert have the same goals. The trope gets subverted when [[spoiler: Master Asia tricks Duke Bergan into facing the heroes underprepared]].

* DeusSexMachina: It may not have been intentional, but "Orgone" energy? It makes you wonder exactly what they do to fuel their mecha...
** The root word "org" means "impulse". It could act in a way similar to Spiral Energy based off of willpower: at a higher Will, the user is able to utilize the full extent of Orgone energy inside the units.

Added DiffLines:

*** And even that can be rectified on a NewGamePlus, as, for finishing the game for the first time, the player gets access to the Spirit Edit screen. As the name implies, it allows for customization of which spirit commands do the chosen protagonist gets access to at pre-set levels. Wanna have Accel and Love as the starting spirits? Go right ahead!

Judgment is an excellent introduction to the series for Western newcomers, with its beautiful visuals and tunes, buttery-smooth difficulty curve that stands in stark contrast to other games in the series, accessible game mechanics and a cast of characters from shows that were both localized for and popular with the Western market, with the added bonus of being one of the few translated SRWs. However, take care: most of the other translated Super Robot Wars titles are more primitive by comparison in interface and presentation, and it can have the unintentional effect of making its predecessors seem dated and ugly.
