* BaitAndSwitch: The first stage of 20,000 Lums Under the Sea tries to pretend it's just a PalmtreePanic[-/-]UnderTheSea-like world, complete with the painting just showing the crew relaxing on a beach, and even a cameo by the Sea of Serendipity's most recurring BGM... except the "island" is blatantly an inflatable balloon, the bright and beautiful ocean only takes up about one screen, and soon you find the tunnel that brings you to what the world is really about.

** Despite this, one of the biggest complaints from fans and critics is the lack of story, even when compared to the story-light VideoGame/RaymanOrigins.

* FallenHero: Apparently, Glombrox used to be a great hero before he got possessed by Darktoons. Now he spends all his time trying to scare people, failing due to his resemblance to Globox.

** When a character is hurt, he / she will inflate util he / she looks like a bubble. However, due to the fact that they wear skirts, most of the princesses' panties are visible when they're in that state.

The game was originally set to be released as a WiiU exclusive in February 2013, but a couple weeks before its release date Creator/Ubisoft announced that it would be delayed until September in order to have a simultaneous multiplatform launch on UsefulNotes/XBox360, UsefulNotes/PlayStation3, UsefulNotes/PlayStationVita, and PC as well. As an apology, the UsefulNotes/WiiU got the game's Challenge Mode as a free download in April. Plus, the production team used the extra time to add a lot of additional content to the game, including dozens of new levels. The sequel retains the first game's gameplay, art style (though the characters have a more painted look to them), and 5-Player co-op (5 players on the Wii U version at least), but goes in a more fantasy-based direction, with worlds based off fairy tales and Myth/ClassicalMythology. The exceptions would be a Dia de los muertos-themed level and an underwater spy-themed level that also pays homage to JulesVerne.
