* CharacterSelectForcing: Unlike the previous game, where you could beat any minigame with any character (albeit with some characters doing better than others), the game has one specific character you have to clear the game with or else the game won't let your score be high enough to pass. [[ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman Most often the newest character you recieved.]]

** The minigames as well. There are only 4 minigames, and while they do allow for co-operative play (after you unlock them) there are only 4 characters to choose from (unlike Pokepark, where every Pokemon you befriend can be played in one minigame or another). It doesn't help that in the story mode [[AbilityRequiredToProceed there's only one Pokemon you can play as that will be allowed a high enough score to beat the minigame, regardless of how well you do with the others]].

* MythologyGag: Meowth, having a quiz game, obviously gets to say "That's right!"[[note]]his catchphrase from [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} the anime.]][[/note]] A bit of Brooklyn accent also seeps out of his dialogue at times.

* SurpriseCreepy: Some of the scenes in [=PokéPark=] 2 are actually pretty creepy. [[spoiler: The fact that the BigBad accidentally nears an EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt is only ''one'' of the surprisingly disturbing things in this game. Then there's Pikachu being pushed to the brink of the DespairEventHorizon after all his friends have their memories wiped and no longer remember him.]]

* OverprotectiveDad: Venusaur acts like one of these to the Pokémon living in the Meadow Zone, not allowing them to visit other Zones, as well as preventing outsiders to come in, and even forbidding attractions. Pikachu eventually convinces him to change his mind.

* WasOnceAMan: Cofagrigus is said to have been a king long time ago, and he's the evolved form of Yamask, Pokémon who are explicitly stated to be the spirits of decased humans.

The game has a sequel, ''[=PokéPark=] 2: Wonders Beyond'', which got released on the Wii (in Japan, it's titled ''Beyond the World'') and featuring Pokémon from ''[[VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite Black and White]]'' and multiplayer. This game has a much deeper story involving the possible destruction of the Pokémon World and the Wish Park.

** A few of the battles against certain Pokemon can fall under this. They just love to spam certain moves without giving you any time to recover. Interestingly enough, the inverse can be true as well. In some cases, the best way to win a battle isn't via strategy. But rather just repeatedly ramming into your opponent while running circles around them.

* PartyGame: Not including the main campaign, PokéPark is notable for how many games it has.

* SceneryPorn: The whole [=PokéPark=].

* FightingYourFriend: [[spoiler:Pikachu is forced to battle a brainwashed Piplup]]. Subverted with [[spoiler: Oshawott and Tepig after their memories are wiped]]

* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:Darkrai wished to assemble a world where all Pokémon would play together in harmony forever, but them being trapped in PokéPark caused the Dark Vortex to threaten to engulf both worlds.]]

* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:Darkrai wished to assemble a world where all Pokeacute;mon would play together in harmony forever, but them being trapped in Pokeacute;park caused the Dark Vortex to threaten to engulf both worlds.]]

* WellExcuseMePrincess: Snivy, even being specifically labelled female ''and'' a princess of her home area. She tarts off as a BrattyHalfPint, though she [[DefrostingIceQueen defrosts a little]] as things progress.
