* OneHitKill: In the first Blood Omen, without a full spirit gauge, the Soul Reaver is just an awkward club. But if Kain has a full magic gauge, the Soul Reaver will instantly kill any mook and even some of the bosses.

But if Kain has a full magic gauge, the Soul Reaver will instantly kill any mook and even some of the bosses. Besides the Soul Reaver, a number of Kain's artifacts (such as the Pentalich of Tarot) can instantly kill mooks

Added DiffLines:

* WithThisHerring: Averted in the first Blood Omen, Kain actually starts off with decent equipment especially his hell-forged Iron Armor. The Iron Armor is actually the best protection Kain can have outside of a 'functioning' Spectral Armor. Until he finds the Chaos Armor, the later armor he finds just give him situational abilities such as disguising himself as an undead.

** Though Kain retains a number of his special powers, where he gets hit hard is the equipment. Gone are all his interesting weapons such as the axes, Havok and Malice. He no longer has any armour and he also loses every one of his perishable items such as the Pentalich of Tarot and Flay.

An action video game series depicting the dark, gothic world of Nosgoth and its [[OurVampiresAreDifferent unique vampires]]. The series follows badass {{Anti Hero}}es, [[NameOfCain Kain]] and Raziel. Kain is a [[MagnificentBastard Magnificent]] SociopathicHero interested in conquering Nosgoth with a vampire army. Raziel is Kain's right-hand vampire who he has killed and turned into a wraith, and sets about trying to kill Kain to avenge himself. It turns out Raziel has the power to ScrewDestiny, and from there we get into time travel. Thus, from ''Soul Reaver'' on, all the main characters, including Kain, take turns playing GambitRoulette with [[CosmicPlaything Raziel as the ball]], hoping to [[UnwittingPawn trick him]] into changing history to make things better for them. Added DiffLines:

* TheCorruption: Before the beginning of ''Blood Omen'', Nupraptor inflicted an insidious mental and spiritual "disease" on the entire Circle of Nine, including the infant Kain. This corruption tainted the Pillars of Nosgoth, and to restore them, the Circle had to be purged. Unfortunately, Kain refuses to die, carrying the corruption with him into Nosgoth's apocalyptic future and passing it on to his sons, who pass it on to the ''Soul Reaver''-era vampire clans in turn. [[spoiler:Kain is only cured at the end of ''Defiance,'' thank's to Raziel's HeroicSacrifice.]]

* GodEmperor: ''Soul Reaver''-era vampires worship Kain, spinning the events of ''Blood Omen'' into myth.
--->'''Raziel:''' Kain is deified. The clans tell tales of him. Few know the truth. [[WasOnceAMan He was mortal once. As were we all.]]

* TheSlowPath: Raziel hurries to and fro in ''Soul Reaver 2'' looking for Moebius's time portals, but between that game and ''Defiance'' he traverses the 500 years between the Pre-''Blood Omen'' Era and the ''Blood Omen'' Era the old fashioned way.

** An internal example as well, as there are three different types of vampires within the series: The Ancients who were transformed into vampires by the curse of the Hylden (Janos), the humans turned into Vampires by the Ancients (Vorador), and Kain and the vampires he and his lieutenants sired. Each type demonstrates very different powers and mannerisms. Furthermore in ''Soul Reaver'', each vampire tribe has undergone divergent evolution over the centuries, most notable with Rahab (immunity to water, but still vulnerable to sunlight) and Zephon (turned into spider vampires).

** Nosgoth vampires are, among other things, killed by ''water'' (related to certain frequently overlooked vampire myths), can be harmed by soundwaves, and, in regards to Kain's progeny, tend to devolve into mutant monstrosities over time.
