* ForcedTransformation: Whenever Hisao hits Thurman Thomas, he gets transformed into a football and rushed to a touchdown. Thankfully he always gets changed back after the kickoff.

* GuideDangIt: A number of the game's mechanics are hidden from the player. For example, the instructions are clear about hitting Mutou slowing you twice as badly as hitting the ground; what they ''don't'' say is that, if you have any piggy bounces when you hit him, he takes ''all'' of them away (noted by his interaction line changing from "HOMEWORK!" to "LIBRARY PASS!"). Likewise, Nomiya appears to be useless, [[spoiler:unless you hit him while the background is whited out, at which point he restores it to normal]].

** The conditions required to activate the Rin timer are kept deliberately unmentioned. In order to activate it, you have to hit a character (any character) while the lower 3 digits of your distance are around 250 or 750.

* SerialEscalation: In ''Nanaca Crash'' a score of over 1000 meters was a decent run. In ''Katawa Crash,'' with its many more insane boosters, combos and other trick which can propel Hisao to ''ridiculous'' heights and speeds, score of manys ''tens of thousands'' of meters are quite easy.

* AchievementMockery: Many of the achievements are jokes at the player's expense. "Thanks For Nothing", for example, is given if you hit Rin-in-a-Bin while already holding an extra life (you can't have more than one at a time).

* LuckBasedMission: The characters are mostly arranged regularly, but this doesn't matter much once you get going decently fast and dozens of them fly past you every second. Chie plays this very straight with a roulette-based attack (and an achievement for getting a certain random result from it).

Chie plays this very straight with a roulette-based attack (and an achievement for getting a certain random result from it). Probably the worst case is getting Unlimited Drill Works: [[spoiler:hit Hanako, then hit Misha (already rare) while Misha's Hanako-interrupt effect is active, which is a ''very'' small window]].

** The 'Rin In A Bin' special contains several nods to [[LightNovel/{{Bakemonogatari}} Nadeko Sengoku]]; Rin dresses up as her when the 1-up is activated, and using it causes 'Rin'nai Circulation' to appear on screen, a nod to her ImageSong Renai Circulation, a small bit of the chorus of which plays both times.
