* TechnologyMarchesOn: The [[spoiler:fake error message]] in the Castle of the Guy is in the style of [[spoiler:the Windows XP version of the "program error" dialogue box. Since the game's release, [[spoiler:four new upgrades to Windows have been released (Vista, 7, 8/8.1, 10), Windows XP stopped coming with OEM computers in 2010, and XP support was dropped in 2014, so anyone using a computer made since the 2010's will most likely be using a later Windows version and thus won't be fooled.]]

* HarderThanHard: The difficulties start at "Medium" and go ''up'' through "Hard", "Very Hard", up to "Impossible". The actual game itself is always the same no matter what level you're on. The only difference is the frequency of save points (and the EasyModeMockery on Medium). There are ''zero real'' save points on Impossible. You're expected to win the entire game with one life. In all literal seriousness, Impossible mode ''is'' possible, but requires quite a bit of memorization and a fair degree of benevolence from the [[LuckBasedMission more random luck-requiring bosses]]. When somebody eventually beat it, the creator's official response was [[http://kayin.pyoko.org/iwbtg/forums/index.php?topic=152.0 "holy crap your not serious are you"]].

*** When I Wanna be the LoveTrap was made, it has a certain boss. The game showed a picture of Hatsune Miku, and played The Disappearence of Hatsune Miku while forcing you to dodge Delicious Fruit of all colors, as well as negi. Many people then started putting similar segments in their fangames, using other Japanese Vocaloid songs and forcing you to dodge for the entire song. Many fangames were made with nothing but these "avoidance bosses".

* InterfaceSpoiler: For the [[spoiler:fake error message]] in the Castle of the Guy to truly work, you need to be [[spoiler:running Windows XP with the default theme and in American English.]] It's kind of hard to fall for otherwise.

** And of course, there are many fangames, all of course following the leader.

* WorldOfBadass: This would seem to be a requirement for The Guys. Just look at the portrait gallery of Former The Guys: [[VideoGame/SuperMarioBros Bowser]], [[VideoGame/RomanceOfTheThreeKingdoms Lu]] [[VideoGame/DynastyWarriors Bu]], [[VideoGame/NinjaGaiden Ryu Hayabusa]], [[VideoGame/FinalFight Mike Haggar]], [[Franchise/MetalGear Big Boss]], ''[[VideoGame/DuckTales Scrooge McDuck]]'', [[Franchise/StreetFighter M. ** This game was the first LP ever done by {{Rawrzaur}}, all the way back on his previous channel of ZeroMegamanX. He has gone on record during one of his live streams as saying that the original reason he even started [=LPing=] in the first place was to prove that he could actually beat this game.

* BaitAndSwitchBoss: Near the end, the Moon that has been plaguing you appears all huge, as if ready to engage in a final showdown, [[spoiler:and then gets smacked aside in about two seconds by the dragon from ''VideoGame/MegaMan2'']]. Especially misleading in that the Moon was high in the sky for the entire minecart ride beforehand, ''and'' the minecart section had "The Moon" from ''VideoGame/DuckTales'' playing as the background music.

* MusicalSpoiler: Subverted! The MinecartMadness segment has "The Moon" from the ''VideoGame/{{DuckTales}}'' game playing as the background music. That, combined with the full moon high in the sky, makes you think that the boss guarding the Guy Fortress will be the Moon that has plagued you so much.
