* BigDamnHero: Manny grows into one after a healthy dose of CharacterDevelopment. Even when he's literally [[spoiler:staring headlong into heaven's gates and given every right to walk in and never return to the UnderWorld again,]] he still won't do it until everybody who's counting on him is finally safe.

* EnemyEatsYourLunch: Invoked almost word for word by the BigBad in one scene when berating [[spoiler: Domino for allowing Manny to steal his client Mercedes Colomar, thus beginning the chain of events that will expose the corruption of the Department of Death.]]

** On the other hand, when Meche takes off her stockings, the shape of her legs is visibly outlined by the fabric, yet only much thinner bones are revealed. Perhaps they don't grow "breast-bones" or "belly-bones", but actually still have a physical body of sorts that can give shape to their clothing, yet is entirely invisible.

* InvisibleAnatomy: The skeletons in the Land of the Dead, when wearing clothes, take on regular human shapes, particularly women, who still have breasts despite just being skeletons. This is best shown when Meche has her unintentional "MrsRobinson in Film/TheGraduate" scene after her stockings get burned. With the stockings on? [[ShesGotLegs Shapely women's legs]]. When she slides them off? Nothing but bones.

* {{Leitmotif}}: "Manny and Meche". You can ''tell'' that Manny's "love is for the living" speech is mostly him being in denial just from the fact that it's accompanied by this track.

** Not too much horror. Celso must have been an absolute scumbug since Manny feels the walking stick was ''too good for him''. As for his wife, she's no innocent flower either, hinted strongly as a GoldDigger with ChronicBackstabbingDisorder.
