* InvisibleWriting: In ''The Journal'', the picture of a pigeon can be heated over the gas stove upstairs, causing the names of four Lyrics to appear.

** In ''TheJournal'', there are some menus for the take-out joints that Polly and Nigel ordered from. If you call a pizza place, a woman on the other end calls you a weirdo and hangs up because you don't answer at all.

Added DiffLines:
* DisgustingPublicToilet: One of the grosser locations in ''Lost Souls'' is the public restroom beside the platform. Largely averted for the same location in ''Journal'' and for the island's facilities in ''Lights Out'', although they could both use some sweeping.

* AdaptationExpansion: The Director's Cut of ''LightsOut'' has different versions of the journals and books within the time zones, some with added ominous music; more ghosts can be seen around the lighthouse and interactive prompts can be used to talk to them rather than simply waiting for a response, and a few of the puzzles are made easier. The D.E.O.S. Launch Room actually has a useful purpose, too.

** Both of these also apply to the first game, which had multiple rereleases, including one that came after ''LostSouls''. An example being Edith's record player: In Version 5 from 2003, the name of the track she likes was originally "As Time Goes By", but in this rerelease, the name was changed to "On Hastings Pier" in reference to other clues elsewhere in the hotel. But "As Time Goes By" is still mentioned in Polly's journal and you can still hear Edith singing it in a few places.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: Room 2-A in the first game has a pair of scissors stuck in one wall. When you reach that same room in ''LostSouls'', there's DOZENS of those things on that wall.
