Added DiffLines:

* ObviousBeta: Bubsy 3D was given such a rushed development cycle, that it only got a finished ''alpha'' done that was shoved out the door in order [[FollowTheLeader to play catch up to]] VideoGame/SuperMario64. The result was a clunky to play, sloppy looking and all around embarrassing rush job that killed the franchise dead.

The franchise thus lay dormant until 2015, when [[http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=553404370 a Greenlight campaign]] to bring a CompilationRerelease of the first two games on UsefulNotes/{{Steam}} began. It succeeded in December 2015, under the title of ''Bubsy Two-Fur''; once released, however, iturned out to be merely a ROM emulation of the two, rather than the games being truly ported to PC like many expected. You can see Creator/JimSterling explain the situation (and actually play the games) in this [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woGJaAakQ_I 14-minute video]].

The 2-D games received good reviews from critics back in the day and they sold fairly well, but some fans labeled it as a Sonic rip-off. Them the franchise transitioned to 3-D with ''Bubsy 3D'', which killed any goodwill the series had as it was considered [[ObviousBeta very bad]] by critics and fans alike, and it proved to be the FranchiseKiller... until now, as there's [[http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=553404370 a Greenlight campaign]] to bring a CompilationRerelease of the first two games on UsefulNotes/{{Steam}}.
