* IronicNickname: The stoic, humorless Colonel Grimm is referred to in some sources, like his in-game bio for ''Sarge's Heroes 2'', as "Happy Jack". For extra irony, most occurrences of the nickname outright mention his [[MeaningfulName grim outlook]] from having been at war with the Tan several times over several ''decades'', right in the very same sentence as they mention the nickname.

* EscortMission: These have been around since the first game, they range from barely an escort (being able to just order your men to hold while you killed everything the way/the VIP being almost as bad ass as Sarge) to almost controller breaking frustrating.
* EveryHelicopterIsAHuey: The Huey is treated as the generic helicopter in most of the series. ''Air Tactics'' does move you into a Black Hawk by the 5th mission and then a Cobra by the final levels. ''Air Attack'' applies this to the player's side (Tan helicopters are almost universally Cobras instead), and has the player move on to a Chinook early on, then a Super Stallion, and finally an Apache as the InfinityPlusOneSword.

More recently, though canonically unrelated to this series, ''[[http://store.steampowered.com/app/360940 The Mean Greens - Plastic Warfare]]'' was released on UsefulNotes/{{Steam}} as a multiplayer-only game giving a LighterAndSofter take on the idea of plastic men in warfare with maps ranging from a simple team deathmatch on a TabletopRPG board, CaptureTheFlag in an aquarium or even a game of soccer on a foosball table. The first three games (Army Men, Army Men II and Army Men: Toys in Space, respectively) can now be purchased at [[https://www.gog.com/game/army_men GOG.com]].
