[[folder:Argent Ferron]]

!!Argent Ferron

Riley's father, a businessman and House Pierrot donor.

* GreenEyedMonster: Though he won't admit it, he's jealous that his son Riley sees Byron as more of a father than him. However, he eventually acknowledges that he hasn't been the best father in the world, either.
* {{Expy}}: WordOfGod has likened him to a LighterAndSofter, more redeemable version of [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Gendo Ikari.]] He is also a widower who is distant toward his teenage son, and a manipulative man responsible for helming a global conspiracy. The difference is that he's more aware of his own flaws and makes efforts to fix them as the story goes on.
* {{Foil}}: To Rosalind Greengrass, Gardenia's mother. Both are single parents and ex-soldiers, tasked with raising their children alone after their spouses died. Rosalind has difficulty coping with her loss and developed a drinking problem as a result, but still tries her best to be a good mother to her daughter. Argent keeps his emotions bottled in and appears more outwardly functional, but expresses little affection for his son.
* MeaningfulName: Argent is another word for silver, the color of steel. "Ferro(n)" means "iron" in Italian. So his name roughly means "silver iron" or "silver steel".
* MoralityChain: After his wife Sylvia died, he became much colder as a result.
* ParentalNeglect: He doesn't seem to pay much attention to Riley, mostly leaving him in the care of the family servants. This is one of the reasons why Riley gravitated toward Byron as a father figure.
* PersonalityPowers: He is a Steel-type trainer. Unlike Byron, who puts more emphasis on the traits of raw strength and determination attributed to the type, he is outwardly cold and emotionless.
* TheStoic: He rarely expresses any emotion other than occasional frustration.
* ThemeNaming: His name means "silver", complementing the name of his deceased wife, Sylvia.
* WeaponOfChoice: Metagross, fitting for a highly intelligent man who works and thinks like a machine.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: Downplayed. He and Byron were very close in their childhood and through their teenage years, but the trauma of the war, as well as his wife leaving him, caused him to become a cold, bitter and detached person. However, he still continues to serve Byron loyally...for his own purposes, that is. Whatever those are.
