* AppliedPhlebotinum: The 'Waves and Tones' system Muzzman made up. Thankfully, it is a milder example, and is simply the explanation for the special elemental abilities some of the cast have.

* BoringEmotionlessHero: Murray eventually stopped writing for Mordag, because the character had no potential for development. He now has a lot more focus on Sharyn.
* ElementsDoNotWorkThatWay: Just a few inches from being invoked. Dragon's Blood is harder than diamond. All that is confirmed, is that Dragon's blood is made of carbon, but is highly reactive, and must be properly molded in order to retain its hardness. It hasn't been confirmed whether or not dragon's blood is a diamond allotrope, isotope, or is held together by 'tonestry'.
** Played straight with the Copper Accelerator. Almost. Apparently the accelerator isn't a conventional accelerator.
* Flanderization: Mordag, and Geoffry, when Murray wrote for the character (Due to AlternateCharacterInterpretation).
* GeniusDitz: Mordag, who is fully capable of performing feets of academic splendor in a second, but never does so.
* MarySue: Arguably Mordag, who is capable of doing anything and everything, but has since been written off as 'an element, rather than a character'.
* MeaningfulName: Mordag is a rearranging of 'Random'. His last name, Irgg, is essentially [[InvaderZim GIR]] reversed.
* PurpleEyes: Sharyn and her mother.
* RealityWarper: Mordag, he follows his own rules... Of Physics.
* WhipItGood: [[spoiler:Sharyn's mother uses a long whip, which contains several shards of dragon's blood. She uses her psychic powers to stab the shards through the material of the whip]].
* YouFailLogicForever: Mordag is the personification of bad logic.

* MeaningfulName: Clidef is derived from Deficio. His middle name 'Artules' means limbs, and his last name 'Kalmer' sounds like 'Karma'.
