[[folder:QQQQQ has a lot to say, so he gets a folder all for himself]]
* Remember that suggestion I made to you about TomClancy, and on his diction regarding violence? Perhaps I should have said that's what ''not'' to do. It might [[GeekyTurnOn sound fine at first]], contemplating Dirk McToughguy's Mac-Ar-M249 assault-machine-shot-rifle laser-model telescoping sight extended-magazine, but really though it's padding to the story and most likely all the description would be [[GetOnWithItAlready skimmed over with.]] This is not to say that looking over violence and [[TechnologyPorn relating technology]] is bad, but not more than what is really necessary. For actual good examples that it could pay to emulate, or at least contemplate, I suggest you might look at the following:
** AllQuietOnTheWesternFront
** {{Dune}}
** BlackHawkDown -- @/{{QQQQQ}}
*** @/LatwPIAT: Well, while ''NeonGenesisEvangelion'' is known for it's long, drawn out and {{squick}}y hospital scenes and silent contemplation on lots of things, and ''GhostInTheShell'' isn't much better, I don't think I could use ''AllQuietOnTheWesternFront for anything. Nor will there be too many knife-fights, but I'm tempted to put in a few ''{{Dune}}''-references anyway.
* Considering that you write techno-thrillers for the geeky clique ([[BlatantLies which I'm not part of, sadly]]), it still pays to put a good story above the [[NealStephenson Stephenson-like]] discourses about a boggling concept (like Sumerian mythology or Toilet Paper). After all, technology tickles the mind for a short while, but it is the story, and the wondrous characters that everyone will go to remember. In short:
** Story/Characterization - A Good healthy meal
** NarrativeFiligree - Dessert
* Reason for all this is because I'm very interested in seeing an AlternateHistory of Evangelion/GiTS carried out to its [[DivideByZero very end]], and I like seeing both series together as Adam and Eve of [[SoCoolItsAwesome something wonderful.]] Now I'm done. -- @/{{QQQQQ}}
** @/LatwPIAT: Eh, over the last eight months or so, I feel that I've matured a lot as a writer, so I'm also figuring out what works and what doesn't; for long descriptions, this means I'm now actively using them where I feel they're appropriate, rather than putting them there to flawdly emulate NealStephenson's style. As for setting merger, I feel that while I'm using a lot both settings, they're not really compatible (which means it comes down to characters, which isn't too bad) but if you really want to seer a ''GhostInTheShell'' elseworlds I'll have to get back to you about that ''GhostInTheShell''/''DeusEx'' crossover I was threatened on my life to write. (nonspecific ''NeonGenesisEvangelion'' elseworlds you shouldn't have to come to me for.)[softreturn]
[softreturn]
This does however mean that the [=TGoE=]-plot you know stuff about is ''nothing'' like the current [=GitE=]-plot, which is a really fun and {{Mind Screw}}y one.

%comment%I'm also in the process of authoring a ''Ghost in the Shell''[=/=]''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' (/''Serial Experiments Lain''[=/=]''Snow Crash''/whatever else I like really) IntercontinuityCrossover, but it's going a bit slow at the moment because they're rather incompatible universes; until I can work out how to give the 'fic the feel I want it to, (an resist the desire to [[Fanfic/AeonNatumEngel make Shinji snarky]]) I'm just not going to publish anything. (I should have gone with ''NGE''/''X-COM'' or ''NGE''/''Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri'' instead, but ''nooooo'', I had to go with ''NGE''/''[=GitS=]'')
%comment%My main gripe is basically that the giant cyborgs of ''NGE'' violate the sensibilities of ''Ghost in the Shell'' I just give up trying to explain why or even how anyone thought it would be a good idea to fund a structurally impossible war-machine that would be piloted by dysfunctional 14-year-olds - I feel like I'm writing the entire [=GitS=]-verse OOC when they don't immediately shut down Nerv by force in the beginning of chapter 1.
%comment%(There's technically nothing stopping me from ''not'' having giant cybernetic monstrosities imbued with souls of the pilots' dead mothers, but that would feel too much like a deviation from ''NGE'', and UNIX-based VR interfaces (imbued with the pilots' dead mothers) connecting to a {{Doom}}-clone {{metaverse}} is so ''cliché'' these days.)
%comment%I'm also the author of ''The Ghost of Evangelion'', a ''NeonGenesisEvangelion'' fanfic set in a variation upon the ''GhostInTheShell'' Earth and drawing elements from various other works I happen like; most importantly ''SerialExperimentsLain''. Rather than focusing on [[ShinjiAndWarhammer40K Walking, Talking CMOAs]] or [[Fanfic/AeonNatumEngel total despair]] I've chose to go along the route of [[XanatosGambit intricate plots]], [[ThirtyXanatosPileup interwoven]] and [[SpannerInTheWorks tearing in the fringes]]; Chapter 1, 2 and 3 are being rewritten to introduce more subplots and slight character alterations.
Also, I'm writing ''The Ghost of Evangelion'', a ''GhostInTheShell''/''NeonGenesisEvangelion'' crossover fanfic ([[http://forums.spacebattles.com/showthread.php?t=159524&page=1 Link!]]) where Section 9 are called in as security for the Earth Coincidence Control Office, a military defence contractor headed by CEO Gendo Ikari.
