*** Mario was originally planned to have a cameo in the movie, but according to the director Rich Moore and screenwriter Phil Johnston, [[http://www.gamesradar.com/wreck-it-ralph-9-amazing-things-you-couldnt-possibly-know-about-movie/ they didn't know what to do with him]]. They thought Mario was too important for a sight gag, but couldn't come up with something that had more substance (it ''wasn't'' about the fact that using him in the movie would be expensive due to licensing fees: see GodNeverSaidThat).[[note]]However, it was rumored that Mario would appear in the sequel, and have a more prominent role (assuming Creator/SonyPictures decides to walk out of making a ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' movie), but with the sequel's premise being about Ralph going on the internet, that seems unlikely. As well, Dr. Wily had also been rumored to appear, as well as Mega Man, but that also seems unlikely since the film rights to those characters have been secured by Creator/TwentiethCenturyFox. Rumors also suggest that cameos of the ''Sonic'' characters could be cut from the sequel in order to [[ScrewedByTheLawyers avoid issues]] with ''Sonic'' film rightsholder Creator/SonyPictures.[[/note]] Mario ''does'' get mentioned in the movie.

* WorkingTitle: Was originally called ''Reboot Ralph'' and ''Joe Jump''. (Though it should be noted that those versions of the film, other than involving video game characters, had somewhat different premises.)

* DuelingMovies: In a manner with Creator/DreamWorksAnimation's ''WesternAnimation/{{Turbo}}'' thanks to that film taking cues from Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog, who appears in ''Wreck It-Ralph'', and because that film and the title character share a name with a character in this film [[spoiler:that turned out to be the BigBad, a major spoiler that really wasn't known until ''Wreck It-Ralph'' was screened for critics, well into ''Turbo's'' production and making it a possible coincidence for DWA]]. Also, DWA's film, too, was scored by Henry Jackman. ''Wreck-It Ralph'' won since it did well while ''Turbo'' bombed and got DWA and former Disney boss Jeffrey Katzenberg sued by his stockholders (this helped towards a sale to Comcast that takes Katzenberg out of the picture on a heavy basis). Both franchises, however, are still alive, with an online show from [=DreamWorks=] Animation's ''Turbo'' and ''Wreck It-Ralph'' getting a sequel (said sequel is set to duel another video game film from Katzenberg's [=DreamWorks=] founding partner, Steven Spielberg, who also directed Disney's ''Film/TheBFG'').

Added DiffLines:

** Dr. Eggman was supposed to speak during the villains' meeting; since Eggman's normal voice actor, Creator/MikePollock, was apparently not informed about Eggman's role here, Creator/JimCummings- who voiced Robotnik in ''WesternAnimation/SonicSatAM''- recorded lines that were ultimately cut.

** The villainous King Candy[[spoiler:/Turbo]] is a far cry from Creator/AlanTudyk's usual heroic/anti-heroic roles. [[HilariousInHindsight Funnily enough]], he would end up getting TypeCast as that type of character in the [[Disney/{{Frozen}} following Disney]] [[Disney/BigHero6 movies after]] [[Disney/{{Zootopia}} this one]] [[WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil along with one TV show]] (and then came ''Disney/{{Moana}}'', where he voiced a dumb chicken sidekick; said movie came out just before his heroic role in Lucasfilm's ''Film/RogueOne: A Franchise/StarWars Story]]'').
