There are no "unintentional nods". If it's unintentional, it's not a nod. Also, you certainly don't "surf" on a *bowl* like on a surfboard.

It's also etymologically related to the German "Br", the Dutch "beer", the Scots "beir" and (hold your breath!) the modern English "bear". Still fail to see the relevance, especially as switching around characters' names in the early stages of a writing process is so common it just barely deserves a notice as a What Could Have Been. No need to bloat this entry with random excursions into etymology; it's long enough as it is.
