Shout Out and Talent Double are not trivia tropes.

* ShoutOut: The one-armed bounty hunter is named Elam, after Western actor Creator/JackElam (who would later appear in ''Film/OnceUponATimeInTheWest'').
* TalentDouble: For a given definition of "talent". When it came time for Angel Eyes to slap Maria, Creator/LeeVanCleef was told to actually slap her, and he was given permission by the actress to do so, but he refused, saying it wasn't possible for him to do it. The slaps are performed by a stuntman and intercut with shots of Van Cleef. Van Cleef later said, "There are very few principles I have in life. One of them is I don't kick dogs, and the other one is I don't slap women in movies."

Creator/HenryFonda The reason was that while he knew he would be good for the role, Leone was extremely hesitant to cast Creator/LeeVanCleef as Angel Eyes, because he felt the audience wouldn't take kindly to Van Cleef going from the fatherly, likable Col. Douglas Mortimer to sneering villain Angel Eyes, hence why he pushed for Bronson to take on the role and pursued other actors. (Creator/HenryFonda and Creator/LeeMarvin were also considered.) In the end, Bronson and the other candidates declined, and Leone got over his reservation of having Van Cleef go from playing a hero to villain in this film. ** Just before the Ecstacy of Gold sequence, Tuco would have been blown off his horse by cannon fire, he'd have tried to fire back at Blondie with a nearby cannon, but of course the clumsy bandit keeps misfiring and the cannon starts falling apart.
