* PlayingAgainstType: For Creator/HannaBarbera as a whole, though for people who remembered their 60s action series, and some of their other 80s-90s action shows (''WesternAnimation/GaltarAndTheGoldenLance'', ''WesternAnimation/ThePiratesOfDarkWater'', even the ''[[MerchandiseDriven Super Powers]]'' era of ''WesternAnimation/{{Superfriends}}''). On the casting level, it served as this for Creator/CharlieAdler, who tends to do more comedic roles (like [[WesternAnimation/CowAndChicken Cow, Chicken and the Red Guy]]), and for Creator/GaryOwens, who either tended to be an announcer (like on ''Series/RowanAndMartinsLaughIn''), or a full-fledged superhero (WesternAnimation/SpaceGhost and [[WesternAnimation/DynomuttDogWonder Blue Falcon]]), not an police commander with a [[AntiHero big chip on his shoulder towards vigilantes]], [[OnlyICanKillHim ego issues]], [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and a tendency]] to call for [[RedshirtArmy tons of backup that gets demolished]].

* ClumsyCopyrightCensorship: Morbulus was originally named ''Occulus'', which was a better name for him, given his extra eyes; however, Creator/MarvelComics already had that name, so H-B redubbed his dialog to refer to him as Morbulus ([[ShaggyDogStory though Marvel didn't even complain about the original name]]). However, his model sheets and such still used his orginal name, as did at least one script after the name change (apparently the crew were still using the original name).

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: No longer in effect, as Creator/WarnerBros, through their Warner Archive DVD-on-Demand program, released ''SWAT Kats'' in December 2010, with some missing scenes restored (the title card for "The Pastmaster Always Rings Twice", and the farmer getting devoured in "The Giant Bacteria"; although in January 2012 they issued an updated version, mainly because the original [=DVDs=] had the ending credits wrong for many of the episodes.

** Turmoil was planned to return in one of the {{Unfinished Episode}}s, "Turmoil II: The Revenge". She escapes from a women's prison, taking all the inmates with her, and gains control of a KillSat. The SWAT Kats go after her--but first they have to infiltrate her fortress, "a castle on top of a snowbound mountain". Also see Commander Feral's entry.

*** The summary for this episode, titled "Cold War", can be found [[http://skfanfic.com/authors/lance-falk/cold-war here]]. Another unused story idea of Falk's, "Blackout", can be read [[http://skfanfic.com/authors/lance-falk/blackout here]].
** The VillainTeamUp episode "Katastrophe", written by Glenn Leopold, was originally called "Blowout!" and was written by Lance Falk. Other than Dark Kat, Dr. Viper and the Metallikats teaming up and kidnapping Callie and Manx, it had little in common with the final product, and was a much more ambitious story than "Katastrophe" ended up being. It featured, among other things, giant tree monsters and a huge mobile command center for Dark Kat called the Fear Train. A plot summary is available here [[http://swatkats.info/encyclopedia/official/blowout-summary-review here]] while the script itself can be read here [[http://skfanfic.com/authors/lance-falk/blowout here]].
