It is speculated that this leak occurred due to a networking error where Creator/PipelineStudios, a company that did animation work for the film, had mistakenly left their entire file server open to the public for a brief period in 2023.

The former eventually retook the role since the second movie. However, Luis Perez Pons died on October 24, 2023 from unknown causes, but he still managed to record his dialogues for the finale of the 13th season (it's unknown, as of now, if Carlos Vitale will replace Pons again or would be recast for the dub of the 14th season). Oscar Zuloaga, who voiced Plankton in the first season and the first few episodes of the second season, being replaced by Luis Miguel Perez, who dubbed him from the second to ninth season. In one episode, he was replaced by Hector Indriago, due to Perez's temporary retirement from the dubbing. However, due to other commitments, Indriago was unable to record dialogues for the next episodes, so Angel Mujica was chosen as his replacement from the ninth season onwards. Mercedes Prato, who voiced Sandy in the first season, was replaced by Anabella Silva from the second to sixth season. Yaraiví Acevedo became a temporary replacement between the fourth and fifth seasons. Lileana Chacon became Sandy's regular voice from the sixth season onwards. Rocio Mallo dubbed Karen in the first season, but by the second season she was replaced by Melanie Henriquez. Martinez, Prato, Mallo and Zuloaga, along with some other dubbing actors were fired by Etcera Group due to their intentions of forming a small union in favor of a fair salary. The only exception is Renzo Jimenez, who has been dubbing Squidward from the very beginning. Other characters' actors were also repeatedly recast. Thus, making Jiménez the sole original dub actor to keep his role.

** In Serbia, there are two Serbian dubs of the series: the first one made by B92 which aired on said channel covering the first 10 seasons and the second one made by Gold Digi Net and VSI Serbia that only covered season 8 episodes "Christmas Who?" and "Frozen Face-Off" and later covered season 11 onwards on Nickelodeon Serbia. Some of B92's voice actors returned for the third movie.

** In the Serbian dub, [[CrossDressingVoices SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs]] and all female characters are voiced by Vladislava Đorđević. The episode "The Slumber Party" is consequently an entire episode of Vladislava talking to herself.

* DubNameChange: Most characters are named aptly to fit their respective foreign dubs, most famously replacing "sponge" in "[=SpongeBob=]" into their language equivalent of the word. Then there are dubs that break that mold, such as in the German dub; instead of Squidward being translated into something squid-related or a variation thereof, he's simply named "Taddeus".

** There are two Norwegian dubs: the first one from 2000, the second one from 2006. The reason for the redub was due to complaints from some parents to NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) that [=SpongeBob=]'s original voice was annoying. As a result, since the [[WesternAnimation/TheSpongebobSquarepantsMovie first movie]] retains the older voices, the Blu-Ray release of said film presents it in English with Norwegian subtitles, as not to confuse modern viewers (or likely because Paramount Norway couldn't redub the movie with the new voice actors due to them being busy with the current dub and other projects) [[note]] You can find the dub of the movie on the Norwegian feed for Netflix.[[/note]].
