!![[VideoGame/ScottPilgrim The Video Game]]:
* ColbertBump: Music/{{Anamanaguchi}} and Creator/PaulRobertson each got one. Unfortunately, the unknowing find out too late that Paul Robertson's work can be incredibly [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids graphic]].
* FanNickname: Some of the moves you can pull off with the weapons and other special moves; e.g. beating someone down with a cardboard box is known as a "Hobo Special".
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Unfortunately, the game was pulled from PSN and XBLA on December 30, 2014, most likely due to the license expiring. And game codes don't work either. You're gonna have to pirate this game if you want to play it (easier said than done).
** Although this may not be the perminent arrangement, given that on August 10th, 2016, Bryan Lee O'Malley [[https://twitter.com/radiomaru/status/763496255024574464 expressed a strong desire on Twitter]] to see the game rereleased, saying "Give me time." Only time will tell.
* RecursiveAdaptation: Not directly, but the original Scott Pilgrim novels were so steeped in video game tropes and references that it's a similar idea.
* UrbanLegendOfZelda: People are already trying to figure out how to get to the Mario-style Green Pipes scattered throughout the overhead screen.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Creator/TelltaleGames asked to make a video game based on the character, but Bryan said no due to the fact he couldn't see ''Scott Pilgrim'' as a PointAndClick Adventure Game.

Julie Powers shares a very similar name with Marvel's ''ComicBook/PowerPack'' character, Julie Power (Lightspeed).(Lightspeed).
** Stephen Stills shares the same name with [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Stills a real-life guitarist.]] The fact that his roommate is known as "[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Young Young Neil]]" suggests that this may be on purpose.
* RealitySubtext: O'Malley was first inspired to make the comic when he learned that his girlfriend (now wife) had three ex-boyfriends who were all named Matthew, and he wondered if they could form some kind of league. He was also going to name the second ex Matthew Lee, but thought that was too far to go for such an inside joke.

* WordOfGod: O'Malley revealed on his blog that the Evil Exes didn't actually die when Scott defeated them, they were simply zapped back to their homes in the U.S. They also decided to give up their vendettas against Scott due to deeming traveling all the way to Canada for something they've already failed at not worth it.

* OneOfUs: With a ShoutOut list stuffed to the brim with video game references, Brian Lee O'Malley is truly one of us (and by that extent, so is Scott).

* WordOfSaintPaul: In commentary, Aubrey Plaza, who plays Julie, asserted that her character had (and possibly has) an unrequited crush on Scott, which is why she's so hostile to him. While Bryan Lee O'Malley, the creator of the original ComicBook/ScottPilgrim comics, responded that Plaza was "making shit up", Edgar Wright, the director of the film adaptation, supported this view.

* This movie has caused Michael Cera to turn himself into a real life example of CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass. He underwent martial arts training for the film's fight scenes and enjoyed it so much he started training for real. He still looks like a complete wimp, but nowadays he's a complete wimp with a black belt.
