** Before the release of actual news of ''You Can (Not) Redo'', there was a fake movie poster [[http://pds.exblog.jp/pds/1/200907/07/87/a0109587_170213.jpg of Shinji sitting alone on the staircase]] from the first two posters. [[spoiler:Considering the darker tone the movie turned, it turns out this mock poster was scarily accurate.]]

** ''3.0 + 1.01'' kind of validates the long-running theory that the ''Rebuild'' movies are [[spoiler:somehow direct sequels to the original]], although not in the way that people expected -- instead of explicitly confirming that [[spoiler:the ''Rebuild'' timeline is a direct continuation, the Anti-Universe has Kaworu explicitly confirm that a Multiverse exists and that he's experienced similar events through a cycle, while Shinji ends up projecting footage from the original series and ''The End of Evangelion'' in his last conversation with Rei]].

* ''Evangelion:3.333 You Can (Not) Redo.'' and the premiere version of ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion Evangelion:3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time'', alongside Music/{{Sia}}'s ''Film/{{Music|2021}}'', are the first non-documentary films to be released exclusively to IMAX theatres.

* ''Evangelion:3.333 You Can (Not) Redo.'', alongside Music/{{Sia}}'s ''Film/{{Music|2021}}'', are the first non-documentary films to be released exclusively to IMAX theatres.

** With the exceptions of Shinji, Rei, Asuka and Mari, everyone else in the Amazon Prime Latin American Spanish dub was recast with Argentina-based voice actors.

* MissingEpisode: Funimation's 2013 dub of ''You Can (Not) Redo'' was only shown in the initial limited theatrical release before Khara mandated the dub be redone from scratch for the home video release and [[BuryYourArt suppressed the initial dub]]. For a deacde, this initial dub was a holy grail for the fandom until it resurfaced in 2023 due to a fan discovering a screener DVD containing the missing dub and uploading a rip online.

*** After being voiced by Creator/BrinaPalencia, Creator/JustinCook and Creator/PhilParsons for the Funimation release of the first three films and by Creator/RyanBartley, Creator/JohnnyYongBosch and Creator/BillyKametz for the Netflix release of the original series, Creator/AmandaWinnLee, Creator/BrettWeaver and Jason C. Lee are back as Rei Ayanami, Toji Suzuhara and Shigeru Aoba, respectively.

* ScrewedByTheLawyers: According to ADR director of the Amazon dubs, Joe Fria, the first three films were redubbed due to legal issues involving Funimation's dubs. He also said that many of their cast members could not reprise their roles due to contract issues.

* CreatorBreakdown: Anno's experience with the ''Rebuild'' films proved to be so exhaustive that he fell into ''another'' depressive episode by the time he finished ''You Can (Not) Redo'', as he revealed in an October 2014 interview. The fact that Khara nearly went bankrupt didn't help matters either. Anno would explain in a later interview that his depressive state at the time was so bad that he found himself unable to show up at the studio for a whole year and even toyed with thoughts of suicide when it was at its worst. Fortunately, he had his wife Moyoco and his good friend Creator/HayaoMiyazaki to lean on and successfully shook off suicidal depression once more, although Anno was sufficiently frazzled by the experience that he has postponed working on ''Thrice Upon A Time'' to make ''Film/ShinGodzilla'' and announced his intention of temporarily taking a break from the ''Evangelion'' franchise once ''Rebuild'' has concluded.

** Two English dubs of ''You Can (Not) Redo'' were produced by Funimation using the same voice cast. The first was for its North American theatrical release in 2013. However, due to the negative reception of that release, Khara re-translated the film and worked with Funimation to re-record some of the English dialogue for an eventual home media release in North America in February 2016. The original version of the dub is impossible to find.

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Creator/{{Funimation}} released the first three films on Blu-ray and DVD in North America. As of 2021, they are now out of print, leaving the Funimation dubs in limbo. In addition, their first dub of ''You Can (Not) Redo'', which was made for its initial theatrical release, remains unavailable on video.

* AllThereInTheManual: There are a lot of things implied but not readily stated in throughout Rebuild, but this reaches ''ridiculous'' levels with Thrice Upon A Time, to the point theatre-goers were given a booklet containing definitions of many of the obtuse terminology used in the film. Explanations for things like the KREDIT supply chain network and who set up can ''only'' be found in printed supplements.

* BuryYourArt: Due to its poor reception, Creator/StudioKhara had Creator/{{Funimation}} completely retranslate and re-record their dub of ''You Can (Not) Redo'' for its home media release in 2016; the theatrical dub has never been re-released. Khara would also redub it and the previous two films again, this time with Dubbing Brothers USA, when they were picked up by Creator/PrimeVideo in 2021.

*** For the Amazon Prime Video release, Creator/VictorUgarte (Shinji), Creator/CirceLuna (Rei), Georgina Sánchez (Asuka) and Mireya Mendoza (Mari) recorded their lines in Mexico while the rest of the cast recorded their dialogue at Marmac Group in Argentina.

* ColbertBump: The airing of ''You Are (Not) Alone'' on Creator/{{Toonami}} garnered nearly one million viewers and lead to the film taking the #1 spot on Amazon's top selling anime list after its airing (with ''You Can (Not) Advance'' not too far behind).

* QueerCharacterQueerActor: The openly gay Creator/DamanMills portrays the queer-coded Kaworu Nagisa in the 2021 Amazon Prime Video dub.

** The French dub saw the return of Creator/DonalReignoux (Shinji) and Creator/LaurenceBreheret (Misato).

** In the English dubs, everyone besides Creator/SpikeSpencer (Shinji), Allison Keith (Misato), Creator/JohnSwasey (the second Gendo) and Creator/TiffanyGrant (Asuka) was recast due to the first dub dating back to 1996 and some of its cast having retired, died or moved away from Texas long ago.

** Creator/KlockWorx distributed the first two films. Then, Creator/ToeiCompany took over for the third and fourth films. The fourth movie added Creator/{{Toho}} as a distributor.

*** Zima's release had most of the cast recorded their dialogue at the now-defunct Elefante Films in Cuernavaca,[[note]]including Creator/VictorUgarte (Shinji), Creator/CirceLuna (Rei) and Azucena Martínez (Asuka)[[/note]] while only five actors recorded their dialogue at [=CBAudio=] in Mexico City[[note]]including Creator/JesusBarrero (Toji), Marú Guerrero (Ritsuko), Ernesto Lezama (Kaworu) and Jesse Conde (Fuyutsuki)[[/note]].

* FanNickname:
** Technically, the title itself, ''Rebuild of Evangelion'', is a nickname that just stuck very hard because Anno and other official sources used the term a lot during the promotion for the first film; from all appearances, the term actually refers to how the first film remasters and expands on art and animation from the original series. Considering the movies are simply titled ''Evangelion'' (or ''Evangelion New Theatrical Edition''), it's doubtful that the phrase was meant to refer to the movie series itself. The title has since become AscendedFanon of sorts, as the Blu-ray for the Japanese version of the third movie includes it in the credit box. Some promotion and summary text Prime Video release also refers to them as such.
** "Weva", short for "Wevangelion", has been used to refer the movie occasionally, as the title of the first three films is written with the obsolete we katakana (ヱ) and the esoteric wo katakana (ヲ) rather than e (エ) or o (オ). The w is not pronounced when reading these characters in modern Japanese, so it is still read as Evangerion rather than Wevangeriwon, but the joke was right there.
** Seele's formal names for each Angel ("Sachiel", "Ramiel", etc.) were only revealed toward the end of the original series, during an [[FreezeFrameBonus extremely brief]] review scene. This scene did not have an equivalent in ''Rebuild'', with official merchandise only calling the Angels by ordinal number, even for the ones identical to the series (e.g. the Angel from the beginning of ''1.11'' is the "Fourth Angel", never "Sachiel"). Therefore, fans tend to use the original series names where applicable (so the Fourth Angel ''would'' be called "Sachiel", the Tenth "Zeruel", etc.), while the new Angels are only given nicknames at the best: the Third is "Tunniel" (it appears in a tunnel), the Seventh is "Clockiel" (it resembles a huge pendulum clock), etc.
** Mari's battle with Zeruel is often just referred to as "ZA BEASTO", after the [[GratuitousEnglish password]] used to trigger [[spoiler:Unit-02's "beast mode"]].
