* CreatorBreakdown: The story derives from one. JMS writes in the afterword that during a breakdown in the 70s he would go on long, increasingly frantic walks through the city he was living in, and he couldn't help comparing the way the city would look during the daytime and the people that would populate it versus the much seedier side, (in the same location) that would come out at night. That was the start of the idea of two worlds living right next to each other but unable to interact, and the story grew from there.
