** Dolph ends up being held hostage onboard a stage. He is voiced by Creator/KevinMichaelRichardson in the English version, who also voiced Prince John in the Creator/Disney version of Disney/RobinHood, where that character had something similar happen to him after he ordered for Robin's execution.Richardson never voiced John in the film itself. He does, however, voice him in WesternAnimation/HouseOfMouse.

*** May have been partially referenced in the IDW comic: spoiler:Solidus knocks out Raiden in the middle of the fight and Snake takes over, ultimately being the one to defeat his brother while Raiden has the infamous talk with JFK!Campbell that, in the game, was right before the FinalBattle.

* ExecutiveMeddling: Creator/Konami execs forced Raiden's name in Japanese to be written using kanji (雷電), instead of katakana (ライデン) like other characters, because ライデン looked a bit too much like a transliteration of "Laden", as in OsamaBinLaden.

*** The trope namer for IJustShotMarvinInTheFace is now resistant to such injuries. Vamp is voiced by Phil LaMarr.
*** Colonel Gurlukovich first appears hijacking a freighter. Sounds like something a pirate (optionally undead) would do.

* Actress Allusion: Solid Snake and Johnny Sasaki are reminded of Meryl Silverburgh when they see Olga Gurlukovich. There's a good reason for that. In the Japanese version, Meryl and Olga were both voiced by Kyoko Terase.

* HeyItsThatGuy:
** Kelly Brook, Carmen Electra and Louise Rednapp appear in the pin-ups in the initial release of the game. When it was re-released, Konami didn't re-license the images from FHM.
** To a lesser extent, most of the game's music was composed by Harry Gregson-Williams.He composed music for Film/Armageddon and Film/TheRock. Kojima was inspired to have him compose the soundtrack after he and sound director Kazuki Muraoka saw Film/TheReplacementKillers in a cinema (Gregson-Williams had composed the music for that film as well) and found they enjoyed his compositions.
* HeyItsThatVoice:
** Creator/QuintonFlynn, who also lends his talents to Jonny Quest, Axel, and Henry, among others, voices Raiden.
** Hey, Vamp was voiced by Marvin.
** Colonel Gurlokovich wants you to know that killer machines from the future are just a figment of your imagination.
** Marine Commandant Scott Dolph is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, given that he and Vamp are stated to be lovers, it could potentially turn their respective characters' relationship on WesternAnimation/StaticShock quite unsettling.
** Solidus is actually Canderous.
** Likewise, Naomi of the previous game returns as Emma, and would later share a game with Solidus's voice actor as Bastila Shan.
** Olga Gurlokvich is Hera Syndulla.
** Olga in the Japanese version is Meryl Silverburgh, something that's even lampshaded in the game itself.
** Rosemary's Japanese voice actress also does The Boss and Sunny.
