** When Stallone got on board, he tried to convince JackieChan to take the part of Phoenix, which would have made Huxley's SawItInAMovieOnce moment a whole lot funnier. He turned down the role, as he didn't want to confuse audiences by suddenly appearing as a villain.

* HeyItsThatGuy:
** Creator/DenisLeary is Edgar Friendly. He even keeps the rapid-fire bit from his "Asshole" song in his speeches.
** Otho has somehow gotten even gayer.
** Sir Humphrey Appleby finally got rid of politicians and turned the West Coast into an utopia?
** Warden Norton still working for the police after all these years?
** Apparently someone shipped Detective Curtis across the country.
** Creator/JackBlack had a small part as one of the Scraps, appearing alongside Edgar Friendly.
** Creator/RobSchneider had an even smaller part, but don't worry, he gets a bigger role beside Stallone again in Film/JudgeDredd. (Hang on, wasn't that kinda like Film/TheExpendables?)
** Speaking of which, this was not the only time Simon Phoenixplayed by Wesley Snipes featured in the same movie as John Spartan. It took them nearly two entire decades for them to finally work together.

* WagTheDirector: According to artist Doug Watson, his backglass artwork proposals were repeatedly rejected by Wesley Snipes, who wanted to ensure his career wasn't jeopardized by having him look like a crazed character. Linda Deal did the final backglass art.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: The whole film's premise of a future society where everything bad you say and do is banned is a pretty clear product of the Early '90s backlash to the concept of "Political Correctness".

* DoingItForTheArt: Nigel Hawthorne, inexperienced in cinema, took his role to prove that he had screen presence for the producers of Film/TheMadnessOfKingGeorge. Hawthorne wanted to reprise the stage role for the movie version. As it transpired this was unnecessary as Hawthorne was the producers' automatic choice for the lead.
