* ShoutOut: Clavier's torturer speaks English with a thick German accent; this being a reference to the song "Die Polizei", it is also by extent a reference to the German nihilists of ''TheBigLebowski''.

* AsTheGoodBookSays: You can always trust [[SinisterMinister Fader Martin]] to come up with some bit of scripture relevant to the current situation, even if it's [[FromACertainPointOfView twisted around to accommodate the characters' immoral acts]].

* DecoyProtagonist: Despite "Sonny" being the titular character, Vicente is the one who is the true protagonist.

to:

* CreepyChild: Vicente's son. Although who can blame him, having been raised by Sonny.

* FlowerMotifs: Monsieur Clavier is keen on flower metaphors.

Added DiffLines:

A theatrical adaptation of Norwegian alternative rock band KaizersOrchestra's first three albums: ''Ompa til du dør'' (2001), ''Evig pint'' (2003), and ''Maestro'' (2005). It is, by admission of the scriptwriter, famed author Tore Renberg, only his own interpretation of the lyrics and characters found in the song lyrics, and should not be considered {{canon}}. It was only planned for a limited run, and no recordings for posterity have been made.

----
* AdaptationDistillation: Any ties between the three albums are only obliquely referred to in its original form; here, things are changed around to combine a complete narrative.
* BaldOfAwesome: Sonny.
* BaitAndSwitchGunshot: Sonny's death at the hands of Vicente's son.
* BedlamHouse: Dieter Meyers Inst.
* BigBadFriend: Sonny, to Vicente.
* BloodBrothers: Sonny and Vicente.
* CallBack / MythologyGag: All over the place, mostly in dialogue form.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Monsieur Clavier has Vicente tortured for what is implied to be months, if not years, in order to extract information from him. His torturer takes extreme sadistic pleasure in this and is disturbingly innovate with his torture.
* DecoyProtagonist: Despite "Sonny" being the titular character, Vicente is the one who is the true protagonist.
* IronWoobie: VICENTE.
* LaResistance: "Resistansen".
* LoveTriangle: An infinitely tragic one with Sonny, Vicente, and Victoria.
* MadDoctor: Dr. Mowinckel, towards the end.
* RussianRoulette: 'Tis what Resistansen does.
* ScareChord: Those very loud gunshots that more often than not, appear out of nowhere.
* ShoutOut: Clavier's torturer speaks English with a thick German accent; this being a reference to the song "Die Polizei", it is also by extent a reference to the German nihilists of ''TheBigLebowski''.
* SinisterMinister: Fader Martin.
* WickedCultured: Monsieur Clavier, full stop.
