** The Norns do ''not'' mince words when they brutally tell both Kratos and Freya that their futures are the product of their own decisions and unwilling to change, and that is why they are so predictable.
** After Odin is defeated during Ragnarok, Atreus calls Odin out for the mayhem he caused throughout the nine realms and for murdering his own son, Thor for refusing to kill Kratos. As Odin was unwilling to listen, Atreus was forced to contain Odin's soul in a marble as he realized that Odin would never let go of his obsessions and paranoia.

** At the end of the Middle Ages chapter, [[spoiler:Princess Alethea angrily chews out Oersted for taking too long to rescue her from the Lord of Dark, and taking pity on his sidekick Streibough (who betrayed Oersted and was the one the princess actually loved), then kills herself to join her beloved in the afterlife. * In the ''VideoGame/ShovelKnight'' DLC ''Plague of Shadows'', the second version of this trope is exchanged from Polar Knight to Plague Knight. After trying to ignore the alchemist, Polar Knight straight up tells Plague Knight that he's never liked him. He goes on to state that he holds wizards, books, trickery and everything Plague Knight stands for in complete contempt, calling him a Weakling. What makes this exchange even darker is that this is the most emotion and volition Polar Knight has expressed in the series thus far. The first time he uses moving text in the whole series is when he yells at Plague Knight, calling him a weakling a second time just to get the message clear. Plague Knight was not effected by it though.
* ''VideoGame/SlyCooperThievesInTime'': During the FinalBoss, Sly gives one to [[spoiler: Le Paradox when told of his revenge plan regarding the Cooper lineage—to be known as the world's greatest thief by stealing their canes. Sly calls him out on this, pointing out that Le Paradox never did the ''actual'' stealing; rather, he got his "partners" to do all the dirty work before tossing them aside and claiming credit for what ''they'' did. Furthermore, Sly also mentions that going after the Cooper line for such a petty reason—for no other purpose than to feed his ego—was just downright stupid, because it not only ended up drawing Sly's attention (and thus interference) in the first place, it also drew Carmelita's attention to his stolen treasure smuggling ring. Put straight, Le Paradox lost everything because he couldn't resist showing off]].

** Terrence Greenbriar, the father of PlayerCharacter Katie and her sister Samantha, gets one from his father regarding his first published book.
-->Thank you for sending along a copy of your newly published book. An author's first published manuscript is a momentous occasion. I read it this afternoon.\\
\\
[[StealthInsult I certainly recognized my son in the subject matter]]. An author's work is the externalization of that which he holds dear (and that which he fears), and in this respect I believe your work was successful.\\
\\
But the lens through which the personal shone was needlessly clouded by genre cliches and implausible dimestore science-fictional dei ex machina. The great authors speak of their life's milieu in clear and honest tones, the lens crystal that refracts their thoughts without distortion.\\
\\
I congratulate you on surviving the great ordeal that is publication, and rest assured that readers of your chosen genre will lap up copies hungrily. But I urge you to shed artifice.\\
\\
You can do better.''
** Terrence gets one from his editor, who's dissatisfied with the quality of his work and reluctantly offers him one last chance despite the fact that the editor doesn't think he deserves it.
-->David asked me to write you regarding the reviews you ve been submitting the last few months. Frankly they're becoming more trouble than they're worth from an editing standpoint. There's a word limit-- it's your job to stay under it, not mine to cut back to it. Even then it's becoming harder and harder to weed out the tangents and non sequiturs from the usable copy without heavy rewrites. The readers of Home Theatre Aficianado(sic) want to hear about the quality and value of the hardware, not ruminations on your childhood!\\
\\
If it were up to me I wouldn't be writing this letter. I'd just be cutting you loose. There's tons of guys half your age who would take half your rate to write stuff I could actually use. But David's known you for a long time, and he's the boss, so I'm giving you one more shot on his say-so. You should write him a nice note thanking him for his patience and generosity.\\
\\
Look through your old stuff and start submitting reviews like that again. Then everybody will be happy.
