* Surprisingly, even there's a TearJerker in a meta-sense. After ''Pride of Justice'' [[FranchiseKiller kind of tanked]], Winkysoft decided to pull off the finale of the Masou Kishin saga, titled... ''Coffin of the End''. Cut to a year later, and... Winkysoft declared bankruptcy, making it a literal 'final nail' and the company's swan song. The sub-series might not be as beloved, but... damn. The only silver lining is that, according to Creator/HikaruMidorikawa, they can finally wrap the story up in their end with the game, thus even if they pull the plug, they're pulling out without regrets.

* ''Original Generation Gaiden'' gives us a cruel PlayerPunch of attempting to invert the SparedByTheAdaptation. [[spoiler:[[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAdvance Lamia Loveless]]]], after all her efforts to assert her indomitable will, is unceremoniously shot down by an [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration ODE System-possessed Wilheim von Juergen]], claiming her useless and making every of her development null. Worse, this happens because [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsCompact2 Kyosuke Nanbu]] had dropped his guard. The {{Leitmotif}} ''Meikyuu no Prisoner'' ("Prisoner of the Labyrinth") by JAMProject becomes hard to enjoy when party members attack Juergen with BerserkerTears (especially [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAlpha Seolla Schweizer]] and [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration Latooni Subbota]], since they were part of a new team) to avenge her. Even though Juergen is defeated, [[spoiler:he himself is obliterated by an interrupting [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsReversal Duminuss]]]], and the heroes are forced to retreat. Kyosuke mournfully and solemnly declares [[spoiler:Lamia]] a victim of war and killed in action.

** Midway of the series... Hugo ''died''. Yes, everyone thought he's dead. And the cause? Aqua found out that Albero's co-conspirator is her revered mentor Eldy Mitte, and was being the BiggerBad of the two, to the point that she didn't help Hugo out of shock. Of course, way later, we find out that Hugo came back to life, somehow. But at that time, it was a pretty shocking event (at least Hugo didn't even die in the original MX), and Aqua's crying was much more visibly understandable, as she blamed herself over Hugo's death, and Eldy was constantly taunting her for that.
** ''Destiny'' was already DarkerAndEdgier, so it ends up taking things harder for their heroes... ''especially Rim''.
*** First, she and Joshua managed to convince Ventus and Glacies to join the team, but in process, there was a flash of light and when Rim woke up... she found out that her SplitPersonality Chris has vanished. This would've been taken normally like a SplitPersonality sickness cured... except consider this: Rim (Liana) has accepted that Chris is her own person, and the two of them are okay with SharingABody, considering each other family. To have her lose a close person like that... on top of for the first time telling the whole Steel Dragon Battle Group about the existence of Chris... Making matters worse, when you use Dea Blanche Neige's final attack afterwards, ''Chris' spirit won't be around anymore to support Liana unlike before'', just to remind you that she's gone forever.
*** And after defeating Perfectio, the team realized that the only way to defeat him is to seal him and someone needs to do the job, sacrificing himself/herself for it... Just before Rim can say a thing, Ventus immediately volunteers, and despite Rim's protests, he's adamant of his choice for everyone's happiness. Worse yet, Chris' spirit appeared once again and told Liana to keep going as she and Ventus vanish forever in front of Rim. ''Wow'', and you thought being experimented amorally back then by Felio in Destiny was bad enough for Rim.
**** Oh and you know what's worse? Beforehand, Liana found out that she's [[spoiler:an incomplete Melior Esse/Ruina General, and Chris was the original Cliana... therefore, Liana felt extremely horrible for killing the real Rim, and she was reduced to begging to sacrifice herself to take Chris' place... which got refused. And the next thing she resorted aside of crying, was only begging at Chris not to go. Which she couldn't do a thing about it too.]] Sheesh, it sucks to be Rim, in particular Liana.

SuperRobotWars. A series where HotBlooded pilots of justice trample on evil with extreme prejudice in the most epic ways possible. Also contains things that would make you cry your tears out, be it normal or ManlyTears.

* [[spoiler:Daitestu, and Alfimi]]'s death in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration 02'', although ''Original Generation Gaiden'' does bring the last one back to life.
** Forget that, the real TearJerker is [[spoiler: Ouka's sacrificing herself to save her "siblings" one last time]].
*** And Inspectors takes this UpToEleven.
**** YMMV, some people feels it's worse than the game version.
* OG Gaiden gives us the cruel PlayerPunch of trying to invert the SparedByAdaptation: Lamia, after all her efforts to assert her steel will... was unceremoniously shot down by an ODE-possessed Juergen, claiming her useless and making every of her development null... all because Kyosuke dropped his guard. The supposedly 'epic' song of ''Meikyuu no Prisoner'' by JAMProject becomes hard to enjoy when some of your team members was attacking Juergen with BerserkerTears (especially Seolla and Latooni) to avenge Lamia. Once all's done, Juergen was shot down, totally obliterated by Duminuss and the team is forced to retreat by the Swordian fortress, leaving Kyosuke to mournfully and solemnly declare that Lamia became a victim of war, killed in action.
** It gets worse later on: Turns out Lamia is not dead, she's recovered by Duminuss and reprogrammed in such a way that even if Kyosuke would try to fulfill his old promise (in case Lamia loses control of herself, he'll personally kill her), he'll ''fail''. Kyosuke is just ''this'' close to cross the DespairEventHorizon... though thank goodness Axel came BackFromTheDead to set things straight.
** The origin of the MX Story was just a passing by story that made it easy to just pass it up, but in OG Gaiden, it sets it up for a more tragic spin. Foglia Esto has a much more developed personality and a good going with Hugo and Albero. Then after all Albero was sidelining him against his wishes, Foglia sacrificed himself from Jetzt attack. The shock was too much for Albero and followed by Hugo getting heavily wounded, it was such a bad and tragic day for Albero, making his eventual FaceHeelTurn much more tragic.
** The children of Duminuss had it quite rough despite their antagonizing nature. Tis and Laliar, after all their obedience to Duminuss, were forcefully absorbed by Duminuss as she ended up as an EvilMatriarch here. When Duminuss retreated to her remaining child, Despinis, she ignored her in favor of re-summoning Dark Brain... who proceeded to ''splat'' her dead, along with Tis and Laliar inside her. ''All in front of Despinis, the resident ShyBlueHairedGirl of the villains''. At that time, even for villainy, it totally sucked being Despinis that time, thank goodness Raul and Fiona are willing to spare, forgive and protect her...
* The Masou Kishin section also had one in form of Ricardo's death. Sure, he's supposed to be DoomedByCanon for being created as the first herald of Zamzeed, after in EX they already had Mio becoming its herald. But it doesn't make his final moments easier to watch, what with Tytti, who used to ignore his advances, were genuinely crying over his death and her efforts to save him declared too late. It's no wonder that afterwards, Tytti ended up becoming AllergicToLove.
* 2nd Original Generations... Doesn't pull the punches.

death of [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration Cattleya Fujiwara-Branstein]], [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration Elzam von Branstein's]] wife. After being captured by terrorists, she's placed in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration 02'', although a hangar bay of their home colony of Elpis. Its AxCrazy leader [[spoiler:[[Characters/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration Archibald Grims]]]] hands Elzam an ultimatum: save his wife as the hangar bay is flooded by poison gas, which is slowly making its way into the rest of the colony, or destroy the hangar bay with Cattleya it, but prevents the gas from seeping into Elpis. Elzam starts hesistating, but Cattleya urges him to take TheNeedsOfTheMany route and destroy the hangar bay. Not only must Elzam live with the fact he killed the love of his life, but is disowned by his [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAlpha younger brother]], who never forgives him for pulling the trigger. The Branstein family was no longer the same after this event.

Unfortunately, [[spoiler:Ouka opts to pull a HeroicSacrifice to stop the regenerating Machine Cells from multiplying any further, no thanks to Agilla. What makes this a TearJerker is all of her sibilings' efforts to get her back to them intact has been for naught. TooCoolToLive? Probably, but it does demonstrate why The School children all consider her their CoolBigSis from the start]].
** ''The Inspectors'', the AnimatedAdaptation of ''Original Generation 2'', implies that [[spoiler:Ouka wouldn't be alive for long, due to overusing the GEIM System in the Rapiecage. Seems like a HeroicSacrifice was the best option in a potentially lose-lose situation]].
* In the same Earth Cradle event, [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration Wodan Ymir]] and [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAlpha Sanger Zonvolt]] crash into the installation from the force of their duel on the surface. Wodan's Thrudgelmir is basically trashed, and he admits Sanger is the winner, but [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAlpha Egret Feff and his Machinery Children]] intervene. As Egret orders the supercomputer Magus Gebo to regenerate the Thrudgelmir, Wodan demands he does not need it. The Machinery Children attack and Sanger quickly dispatches Machinery Child Uruz, while Wodan, knowing his machine can't take anymore stress, singlehandedly destroys Egret and the rest of his abominations with one stroke. Just before the overdamaged Thrudgelmir explodes, Wodan tells Sanger that [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAlpha Sophia Nate]] is now his responsibility to protect. Sanger screams for Wodan's name, accepting his new duty given by his greatest rival, and rushes to save Sophia as the Earth Cradle begins to collapse.

''Original Generation Gaiden'' does bring the last one back to life.

Kyosuke to mournfully and solemnly declare that Lamia became declares [[spoiler:Lamia]] a victim of war, war and killed in action.
** It gets worse later on: Turns turns out Lamia [[spoiler:Lamia is not dead, she's NotQuiteDead: she was recovered by Duminuss and reprogrammed in such a way that even if Kyosuke would were to try to and fulfill his old promise at the ''Original Generation 2'' epilogue (in case the event Lamia loses control of herself, he'll personally kill he promises to destroy her), he'll ''fail''. Kyosuke was already hit with HeroicBSOD and is just ''this'' close to cross crossing the DespairEventHorizon... though thank goodness Axel came DespairEventHorizon]], until a BackFromTheDead [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAdvance Axel Almer]] arrives to set things straight.
** The origin origins of the MX Story [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsMX Cry Wolves]] from ''SuperRobotWarsMX'' was just a passing by story that made it easy to just pass it up, but in OG Gaiden, it ''Original Generation Gaiden'' sets it up for a more tragic spin. [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsMX Foglia Esto Est]] has a much more developed personality and a good going relationship with his friend [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsMX Hugo Medio]] and father [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsMX Albero Est]], except being sidelined and passed up most of the time by Albero. Then after all Albero was sidelining him against his wishes, There almost seemed to be a good reason for his, until Foglia sacrificed himself to protect his father from a [[spoiler:[[Characters/SuperRobotWarsCompact2 Jetzt attack. Regisseur]]]]. The shock was too much for Albero and followed by Hugo getting heavily wounded, it was such a bad and tragic day for Albero, and coupled with the bad news that Hugo must receive cybernetics to even survive his wounds from the attack, it's not hard to see why Albero begins his StartOfDarkness from this event, making his eventual full FaceHeelTurn much more tragic.
in the next game.
** The children homunculi of Duminuss had it quite rough rough, despite their antagonizing nature. Sure, [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsReversal Tis and Laliar, after all Laliar]] may have been following their obedience to Duminuss, were forcefully master's orders, [[spoiler:but being forcibly absorbed out of their own will by Duminuss as she ended after receiving too much wounds from the heroes? Duminuss winds up as an playing the EvilMatriarch here. When straight to a T, compared to its ''SuperRobotWarsReversal'' counterpart. Just as Duminuss retreated to her bares down on the remaining child, Despinis, she ignored her in favor of re-summoning homunculus [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsReversal Despinis]], it summons its master [[Characters/CompatiHeroSeries Dark Brain... Brain]], who proceeded proceeds to ''splat'' her dead, OneHitKO the BetaTestBaddie, along with Tis and Laliar inside her. ''All it, ''all in front of Despinis, the resident ShyBlueHairedGirl of the villains''. At that time, even for in regards to villainy, it totally sucked sucks being Despinis that time, Despinis, but thank goodness Raul and Fiona the [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsReversal Gureden sibilings]] are willing to spare, forgive and protect her...
her]].
* ''[[SuperRobotWarsGaiden The Masou Kishin Lord of Elemental]]'' Part 1 section also of the ''Masou Kishin'' storyline had a major one in form with the death of Ricardo's death. Sure, [[Characters/MasouKishin Ricardo Silvera]]. Naturally, he's supposed to be DoomedByCanon for being created as the first herald Herald of Zamzeed, after in EX they already had the Elemental Lord "Zamzeed", since [[Characters/MasouKishin Mio becoming its herald. But Sasuga]] is the next one in line during the ''SuperRobotWarsEX'' events, but it doesn't make his final moments easier to watch, what with Tytti, as [[Characters/MasouKishin Tytti Noorbuck]], who used to ignore was ignoring his advances, were advances and playing up the {{Tsundere}} atttitude beforehand, breaks down and genuinely crying over mourns his death and her efforts to save him declared too late. It's late.
** To add to the tragedy, when you realize Ricardo's assassin [[spoiler:is the same person who killed Tytti's family on the surface world before she was summoned to La Gias]], it's
no wonder afterwards that afterwards, Tytti ended ends up becoming AllergicToLove.
* 2nd The ''Second Original Generations... Doesn't Generation'' doesn't pull the punches.punches, either.

Added DiffLines:

SuperRobotWars. A series where HotBlooded pilots of justice trample on evil with extreme prejudice in the most epic ways possible. Also contains things that would make you cry your tears out, be it normal or ManlyTears.

Added DiffLines:

**** Oh and you know what's worse? Beforehand, Liana found out that she's [[spoiler:an incomplete Melior Esse/Ruina General, and Chris was the original Cliana... therefore, Liana felt extremely horrible for killing the real Rim, and she was reduced to begging to sacrifice herself to take Chris' place... which got refused. And the next thing she resorted aside of crying, was only begging at Chris not to go. Which she couldn't do a thing about it too.]] Sheesh, it sucks to be Rim, in particular Liana.

** This troper actually cried when he learns that in [=OG2.5=], Banpresto modified the OVA that instead of surviving, Lamia Loveless was instead killed by Juergen, one that causes TheStoic Kyosuke Nanbu, her would-be-savior at least in the OVA, shed ManlyTears, and Seolla, along with Latooni shed tears of sorrow even when they attack Juergen. This troper, on the other hand, aside of drenching up in tears and NightmareFuel, has developed a really UnstoppableRage to slaughter Juergen for what he did to Lamia all along, including mentioning [[ToThePain how sadistic he'll be killed]], never mind that Duminuss eventually did the job for him, he wants to do it himself, as he thought unlike those people mentioned in the previous tear-jerking events, her 'death' adds nothing except only despair. Of course, in turn, in OG Gaiden, her being alive and saved by [[spoiler:Axel Almer]] instantly counts as a [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming heartwarmingly]] [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome awesome]] scene.
** And even the classic games are not safe from this trope as well. Particularly in SRW Gaiden, regarding of Ricardo Silvera's death. Between Tytti trying to save his life and him telling her it's futile, to eventually stating that he's happy to be tended by an angel like her before he dies... all while Tytti just was about to return his love to her warmly, the prelude of her AllergicToLove. It just adds to the tear-jerking that he is a BoisterousBruiser, a potentially lovable character, but considering Gaiden comes after EX, perhaps it was to make way for Mio, though honestly, this troper thinks being PutOnABus could be a better fate...

** This troper actually cried when he learns that in [=OG2.5=], Banpresto modified * OG Gaiden gives us the OVA that instead cruel PlayerPunch of surviving, Lamia Loveless trying to invert the SparedByAdaptation: Lamia, after all her efforts to assert her steel will... was instead killed unceremoniously shot down by an ODE-possessed Juergen, one that causes TheStoic claiming her useless and making every of her development null... all because Kyosuke Nanbu, her would-be-savior at least in the OVA, shed ManlyTears, and Seolla, along with Latooni shed tears dropped his guard. The supposedly 'epic' song of sorrow even ''Meikyuu no Prisoner'' by JAMProject becomes hard to enjoy when they attack Juergen. This troper, on the other hand, aside some of drenching up in tears and NightmareFuel, has developed a really UnstoppableRage to slaughter your team members was attacking Juergen for what he did with BerserkerTears (especially Seolla and Latooni) to avenge Lamia. Once all's done, Juergen was shot down, totally obliterated by Duminuss and the team is forced to retreat by the Swordian fortress, leaving Kyosuke to mournfully and solemnly declare that Lamia all along, including mentioning [[ToThePain how sadistic became a victim of war, killed in action.

Of course, in turn, up, but in OG Gaiden, her being alive it sets it up for a more tragic spin. Foglia Esto has a much more developed personality and saved a good going with Hugo and Albero. Then after all Albero was sidelining him against his wishes, Foglia sacrificed himself from Jetzt attack. The shock was too much for Albero and followed by [[spoiler:Axel Almer]] instantly counts as Hugo getting heavily wounded, it was such a [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming heartwarmingly]] [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome awesome]] scene.bad and tragic day for Albero, making his eventual FaceHeelTurn much more tragic.

* The Masou Kishin section also had one
in SRW Gaiden, regarding form of Ricardo Silvera's Ricardo's death. Between Tytti trying to save his life and him telling her it's futile, to eventually stating that Sure, he's happy supposed to be tended by an angel like DoomedByCanon for being created as the first herald of Zamzeed, after in EX they already had Mio becoming its herald. It's no wonder that afterwards, Tytti just ended up becoming AllergicToLove.
* 2nd Original Generations... Doesn't pull the punches.
** Midway of the series... Hugo ''died''. Yes, everyone thought he's dead. And the cause? Aqua found out that Albero's co-conspirator is her revered mentor Eldy Mitte, and
was about to return his love to her warmly, being the prelude BiggerBad of her AllergicToLove. It just adds the two, to the tear-jerking point that he is she didn't help Hugo out of shock. Of course, way later, we find out that Hugo came back to life, somehow. But at that time, it was a BoisterousBruiser, a potentially lovable character, pretty shocking event (at least Hugo didn't even die in the original MX), and Aqua's crying was much more visibly understandable, as she blamed herself over Hugo's death, and Eldy was constantly taunting her for that.
** ''Destiny'' was already DarkerAndEdgier, so it ends up taking things harder for their heroes... ''especially Rim''.
*** First, she and Joshua managed to convince Ventus and Glacies to join the team,
but in process, there was a flash of light and when Rim woke up... she found out that her SplitPersonality Chris has vanished. This would've been taken normally like a SplitPersonality sickness cured... except consider this: Rim (Liana) has accepted that Chris is her own person, and the two of them are okay with SharingABody, considering Gaiden comes each other family.
*** And
after EX, perhaps it was to make defeating Perfectio, the team realized that the only way to defeat him is to seal him and someone needs to do the job, sacrificing himself/herself for Mio, though honestly, this troper thinks it... Just before Rim can say a thing, Ventus immediately volunteers, and despite Rim's protests, he's adamant of his choice for everyone's happiness. Worse yet, Chris' spirit appeared once again and told Liana to keep going as she and Ventus vanish forever in front of Rim. ''Wow'', and you thought being PutOnABus could be a better fate...
experimented amorally back then by Felio in Destiny was bad enough for Rim.
