** And it turns out he died for nothing anyway. Critic was begging for death by ''SonOfTheMask'' and acting even worse by insulting child appearances by ''BridgeToTerabithia''.

* Rebecca's heartbreak over their present for Donnie being destroyed. Luckily it ends in a {{badass}} NoHoldsBarredBeatdown.

* In the middle of his lying scene, that long shot of Donnie alone on the couch looking completely vulnerable and exhausted, {{foreshadowing}} that he's not quite as happy as he says he is.

** Again, the RealitySubtext makes it hurt worse. Elisa Hoffman was based off Elizabeth Hartman, an actress who starred in ''APatchOfBlue'' and had her career dry up when she got older, resulting in a "killed by Hollywood" suicide.

* The complete casualness in how Donnie lets out that he never let being raped stop him from doing anything. Rebecca's not okay with him saying that either, which is worse in hindsight.

In Midwest Media Expo 2015, Rob was asked what his most emotionally draining moment was, and he picked this goodbye. Reasons why are sad in themselves.
-->'''Rob''': Probably Karl in the last episode of Demo Reel, because I just enjoyed doing Demo Reel and didn't want it to go, so I was like [in Karl's accent] “Well goodbye, [[SarcasmMode thanks for bringing the Critic back]], I enjoyed my moment in the sun.”

* Doug said in Midwest Media Expo 2015 that every time Donnie was in the woods at night, he was genuinely suffering and that this was the most emotionally draining thing he's ever had to do, which made the breakdown far more effective.

* In the movie "sequel", the movie, though a little cliche is still acted good enough to leave a substantial mark, especially with Tacoma's character quoting "Amazing Grace" as their closing line.

Malcolm was apparently genuinely crying in that scene, and he talked about having to dig up sad stuff in his own life in order for him to elicit tears. Doug said he did great though, so it looked like it was worth it.

* Donnie’s scenes where he’s trying to survive in the woods are hard to watch. Especially when he ends up in tears because there’s no water (until he quotes ''{{Dune}}'').

*** And just to make it HarsherInHindsight, Demo Reel did indeed come to an end, because, while it had a fanbase, it wasn't big enough. For a fan of the show, it hits hard.
