** Meta example, but the following episode's opening credits, when listing the cast, has a notable jump where they cut out Donald Glover's name, and it continues on to the following episodes. Even though we knew he was leaving it was still sad to see. A similar sentiment can be said at the beginning of the season when Chevy Chase's name isn't featured.

** Elroy is not speaking to Jeff. It's assumed that in addition to him saying that he doesn't like people who try too hard to win you over, he's mad about the email leaks from the previous episode. Jeff pulls out the full stops to hire Elroy's favorite band; Elroy is even ''more'' upset. He then drinks with Britta and realizes it's because the lead singer Julie broke his heart. Elroy goes to confront Julie and admits he still loves her. This makes him realize he's pushing Jeff away because he's reminded of Julie chasing him. When Jeff bares his soul and admits he likes Elroy, the man hugs him as an apology.
** The episode is a huge YankTheDogsChain for Britta. She sees Rick for the first time in years, long after Subway left, and despite herself is still attracted. Annie goes ThisIsGonnaSuck when her attempt to warn Britta backfires. Sure enough, Annie is proven right.
** The ending in which shows that Britta and Subway/Rick won't end up together as theywish.wish. Britta tries to convince him to stay at the dance, but Rick cannot resist hearing the dean is having trouble choosing a car for a new fleet. Rick finds out that Frankie set a trap for him, and security escorts him off-campus for preying on the Dean.
** It's implied Frankie knew Britta got roped into the Honda marketing scheme. She still looks nothing but sympathetic as Britta admits that Rick offered something she wanted, and she bought it. Frankie has had her share of LoveHurts.
** Rick, as he's driving away, goes MyGodWhatHaveIDone about letting his desire to sell more cars override his relationship with Britta. He lets a SingleTear fall on the dashboard.

* Pierce's home life. Before his mother died in the third ep of season 2 it was just him and her with maybe a few visits from his JerkAss father who passed down his prejudices. His seven marriages could be just his desperation to not be alone but for many reasons the marriages couldn't work, his "Super Fertility" is just a euphemism for being infertile (Which may relate to why he sees Jeff and Annie as his faux son and daughter), his friend Troy got to live in his mansion in season 2 for free before moving out (Since Troy's an idiot he had no idea that he was addicted to pills until it was too late) and didn't express much gratitude and from the season 2 finale that summer and most school breaks are just days to wait until the new semester.

* Abed and Britta get into a petty feud when he first accidentally spoils a show they like called ''Bloodlines'', a ''Game of Thrones'' expy and then mocks her for not putting in the effort to keep up by saying how season one ends. Britta promises to get back at him by reading the books and spoiling him. Abed starts wearing powerful headphones to block her out and spends the day bonding with a deaf girl, learning sign language (which for Abed is a big thing because he makes an effort to socialize). Then at the dance that the committee has organized, the deaf girl spoils the books for him after he's mastered enough sign language to understand and reveals Britta paid her to do that. Britta tries to gloat, only for Abed to say, "I'm devastated" since he liked the girl and walk away, making her realize she went too far. While Abed gets back together with Rachel as a result, Britta doesn't really suffer consequences for messing with one of her friend's relationships and her apology is less MyGodWhatHaveIDone and more SecretlySelfish.
