** WakeUpCallBoss: Togoth as the second boss of the game, a much more competent threat. Not only does he summon multiple different Core Creatures, he'll heal his own and hurt yours with a better offensive spell than you have access to at that point.

** WakeUpCallBoss: Togoth as the second boss of the game, a much more competent threat. Not only does he summon multiple different Core Creatures, he'll heal his own and hurt yours with a better offensive spell than you have access to at that point. Zet also counts, being ''much'' more competent than Korg when you do fight him and coming out with a unique spell attack than can one-shot your Dream Creatures.

Added DiffLines:

* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Dan, in the Japanese Game Boy Advance remake, [[http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/magination/images/0/04/Magi-Nation_GBA.png/revision/latest?cb=20150218103721 looks quite different from the rest of the cast]], considering that none of the other characters, even the people from Earth, were redesigned for this version.

* DamageSpongeBoss: Korg and his dream creatures are just big sponges. They aren't hard, but they can take a ''lot'' of abuse before going down.

** Korremar mentions Agram, and you can apparently hear the backstory in the Orothe Village, but [[LostForever there's no way to return.]]

* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Tony goes on one at the end. The first four Shadow Geysers, Tony acts more out of self defense. However, by the fifth, he's making death threats and clearly ''wants'' to castigate Morag for everything.

However, by the fifth, he's making death threats and clearly ''wants'' to castigate Morag for everything. To compare, Tony only fights Togath because he's cornered, Ogar because she won't let him leave, Korremar because ''he'' attacks first, and can even choose to avoid Warrada all together. By the time the fifth shadow geyser is out, it's ''him'' running towards Morag and shouting, "Thy hour of reckoning is upon thee, Agram!"

Added DiffLines:

* SkippableBoss: Bait and switched. Warrada will give you an offer - take the stone and leave forever, and you don't have to fight Warrada. However, should you do this, Warrada will jump you in the Arderial and you will have to fight her there instead - but her stats aren't buffed up.

* FailOSuckyName: The kids in Tavel Gorge declare Tony's name to be this, so they nickname him "Foney Bones". To earn the right to be called by his real name, he enters the cave to find the crystal.

!!Tropes found in the cartoon include:
* AdaptationDyeJob
** Formerly blond Tony now has black hair.
** Ugger got some combination of this and RaceLift. Originally a very ugly Core creature, it was turned into a (debatably) cute Naroom plant beast.
* AnimeHair
** Edyn just has improbably long hair and bangs. Strag, on the other hard, looks almost as if he's got a starfish sitting on his head.
** The Underneathians all have fungus in their hair, hence they all have hairstyles like Strag's.
* {{Animesque}}
* CallingYourAttacks: "I cast X Spell!"
** Also used for all the dream creatures' attacks, by their partners.
* CatchPhrase: Each of the three main Dream Creatures has one.
* TheChosenOne: Tony is assumed to be the Final Dreamer. Actually, it turns out [[spoiler: all three main characters ''together'' are the Final Dreamer.]]
* CoolOldGuy: Tony's Grandpa, the former champion of the Moonlands.
* EdutainmentShow: The show certainly isn't entirely edutainment, ''but'' every episode will have at least one moment where the characters discuss some random bit of educational matter for the viewers to learn. Depending on the episode, this can seem completely natural (before going into the desert, the characters discuss RealLife desert survival techniques), a little forced (describing ecosystems with the mad zookeeper), to totally {{anvilicious}} (discussing what shooting stars and supernovae actually are while watching a magic ''astrological event).''
* FieryRedhead: Edyn
* HeroWithBadPublicity: The heroes in the second season
* MagicalNativeAmerican: Strag has shades of this, especially his clairvoyant "Moonsense".
* {{Mentor}}: Orwin
* {{Mordor}}: The Core
* OlympusMons: The Guardian Hyrens.
* PowerTrio: Tony, Edyn, and Strag
* SaturdayMorningCartoon
* ScrewTheRulesIHavePlot
* SecretTestOfCharacter: Standard among the Guardian Hyrens.
* SnarkKnight: Tony, but even moreso for Edyn.
* SummonMagic
* ThreeAmigos
