This is a show about references. When you hang a guy upside down in the rain for a kiss from his [[LoveInterests main babe]], and you are not shooting the movie ''Film/SpiderMan1'', you are up to your ass in PostModernism.

* BillingDisplacement: Peter Gallagher & Kelly Rowan are billed first in the opening credits for all 4 seasons, despite their characters being less prominent than the teenagers. When Melissa Clark & Rachel Bilson were added as regulars, Clark was again billed ahead of Bilson despite the same applying.

* AbuseIsOkayWhenItIsFemaleOnMale: A ''lot'' of Taylor's behavior towards Ryan would probably be condemned if she were a guy, but because she's a girl, it's played off as a cute quirk of character.
