* Expy: The [=ValveMax=] Megazord is made of a crocodile, a shark (we think), and a wolf (likely a coincidence, as the latter two were an orca and a dog in Go-Onger). And the Road Attack Zord seems to resemble the Warrior Wheel; even its finishing move is almost the same.

* BatmanGambit: Dr. K does one in the episode named "Doctor K" appropriately enough. [[spoiler: The rangers need another Flux Overthruster to combine the High Octane and ValveMax Megazords. The problem is they don't know how to make one. Dr. K brings a cloning device from the ReflexBot that attacked earlier into the laboratory predicting Tenaya would be inside and would by accident clone the Flux Overtruster just in time to save the Rangers by letting them make the Zenith Megazord. And she had her violin connected to giant fans to blow Tenaya out of the base.]]

The are 12 Zords in this show. It takes three to form a single Megazord, they have 4 Megazords that do this, and they can all turn into a single unit called the RPM Ultrazord. So we have RuleOfThree multiplied by FourIsDeath taken to its logical conclusion.

* HumongousMecha: The RPM Ultrazord, which is twice as large as any grown attackbot. What do you expect when a third of the pieces are a whale-jet, and a Mammoth-train with T-rex and Triceratops cars?

* HumongousMecha: The While this is standard in any Power Rangers series, the RPM Ultrazord, which Ultrazord is a twelve-zord combination and twice as large as any grown attackbot. ** CombiningMecha: This season features four three-piece combiners: the original three Rangers make the High Octane Megazord, Dillon and Ziggy pilot the [=ValveMax=] Megazord, Gem and Gemma the Mach Megazord, and the Paleozords make up the Paleomax Megazord. They can then sequentially combine into bigger combinations: the High Octane and the [=ValveMax=] make the Zenith Megazord, plus the Mach is the [=SkyRev=] Megazord, plus the Paleomax is the RPM Ultrazord.

** We also, once again, get the LongLostSibling plot point where one of them was made to be evil before making a HeelFaceTurn. It especially bears a striking resemblance to the Andros-Astronema/Karone dynamic.

* GenreSavvy: Tenaya 7 and General Crunch show signs of this. Tenaya sometimes crosses into DangerouslyGenreSavvy.
** Ziggy runs Genre Savvy U, with DangerouslyGenreSavvy Flynn as his top student.
** Dr. K gets a moment of genre savviness when she points out that Summer likes both "the boy next door" and "the tortured and mysterious bad boy" in "Brother's Keeper". She gets one again in "In Or Out" when she brings up the fact that she's their mentor.
