* BrilliantButLazy: Mike is skilled enough to take down [[TheBigGuy Raph]] when properly motivated, as seen when he swiftly takes the latter out when he snatches away the former's Silver Sentry action figure.

Added DiffLines:

* NotSoAboveItAll: Raph tries to sneak in and read the journal, despite Splinter's warnings. When Leo catches him, he pretends he was sleepwalking, something Mikey would do.
** Leo, Raph and Don can't help but feel curious about the contents of the titular journal and they all defy Splinter's orders and go behind his back to read it.

* DiabolusExNihilo: Invoked at the end. Splinter admits he grew tired making up stories by the ending of Raph's, so he just threw in the Foot Mystic twist to get it over with.

* BrainInAJar: Donny's story involves him being in a starship accident and the Utroms only being able to save his brain.
* CruelTwistEnding: Invoked with Raph's story. After he and Casey beat up the Purple Dragons, a Foot Mystic randomly appears out of nowhere and traps them on a deserted island, where they're stranded for three years.

* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: Invoked at the end. Splinter admits he grew tired making up stories by the ending of Raph's, so he just threw in the Foot Mystic twist to get it over with.
* HappilyEverAfter: The "Welcome Back" page of the journal.
-->"I know how the story ends, and you guys are gonna love it."
* OutOfOrder: ''Fast Forward'' was aired before Season 5, so this applies to the entire season, but it's particularly noteworthy for this episode since the fake journal stories spoil some developments: the new members of the Justice Force, the Ninja Tribunal being alive and well, and Karai being on good terms with Leonardo.
* ProphecyTwist: Leo read about there being a traitor in the Ninja Tribunal's temple. He tries to avert it by confronting Karai, only to look like a traitor for it. Chikara also warned him of this trope by noting how prophecies can be misinterpreted.
* SecretKeeper: The episode highlights how Cody already knows what will happen to the Turtles once they get home and nonetheless keeps it a secret.

to:

* TomatoInTheMirror: Donny's story ends with his brain being put in Serling. OhCrap ensues.
* WrongGenreSavvy: In Leo's story, he suspects Karai of being a traitor.

* FridgeLogic: Rare in-universe example. When the Turtles find what appears to be April's journal, from which Cody learned about the Turtles, they all sneak in to read it late at night. However, as they get to the end of Raphael's story, they notice contradictions between the story and what they already know about recent history. Just then, Cody and Splinter enter and reveal that they had replaced the journal with a fake to teach the Turtles a lesson.
