Joe and Frank Russo are arrested for severely beating George Harding. They believe he raped their sister Leslie, a resident of a psychiatric hospital where Harding works. He is arrested for this and also the rape of Wendy Singer, a patient at another hospital where he worked; she has become pregnant whilst in a coma. The case against Harding falls apart when it emerges he did not rape Leslie. However, a DNA test shows he is the father of Wendy's baby. She dies in childbirth, and his charges are increased to murder.
