Hermione decides that rather than have the meeting at the Three Broomsticks, where they might be overheard, they would go to the Hog's Head instead. It's a quieter and rather grubby bar in a corner of Hogsmeade with quite a few shifty-looking patrons. The idea turns out to be rather popular: 25 students turn up.

Harry is first worried that they may only hear to hear him talk about his encounter with Voldemort, particularly when one of the students there turns out to be doubting him. But the other students seem to admire him, and they discuss his achievements. Harry again is quite modest. They resolve to form a group where Harry can teach defensive magic but are unsure where to meet or how often to do it, especially as they would probably like to keep it secret from Umbridge. As they head out, Hermione mentions that Ginny is dating Michael Corner (to Ron's indignation) and that she is sure Cho fancies Harry.

Over the next few weeks, Harry continues to consider Hermione's suggestion of starting an alternative Defence Against the Dark Arts classes. Eventually, he comes round, even as she suggests inviting more people from outside their friendship group. They will discuss the idea with prospective students during their Hogsmeade visit, and they will try to keep it secret from Umbridge.
