Added DiffLines:

* AllThereInTheManual: In the fan novelisation, it is mentioned that the Doctor was in his second incarnation when he last met Arthur Stengos, and at the time was travelling in the TARDIS with Jamie and Zoe. This was not derived from any information given in the televised version.

* PinballProtagonist: The Doctor. He basically wanders around the snowfields of Necros for an episode, wanders around some caves, has a confrontation with Davros and then stands around while everyone else sorts out the plot. You kind of get the feeling that Eric Saward preferred writing about everyone else ''but'' him.

* TookALevelInBadass: Davros ''finally'' regains a good chunk of the menace and cunning he had in "Genesis of the Daleks".
* UnexplainedRecovery: Initially this seems to be averted, as Davros's initial BrainInAJar appearance suggests that his head was all that was left of his body after the Movellan virus went to town on him. However, we later find out that not only is he perfectly intact, he can now fly and shoot lightning bolts as well.

* {{Homage}}: This is Eric Saward doing his absolute best to pastiche RobertHolmes, who he by this time practically hero-worshipped. Also has a great deal in common with ''Series/BlakesSeven'', in general tone and in particular in terms of Kara being a blatant Servalan-{{Expy}}. The actual plot, about a dysfunctional mortuary, was taken from an Evelyn Waugh novel.

* GenreSavvy: Davros has upgraded himself to shoot lightning bolts and even has a clone to divert assasination attempts. As his last appearence climaxed with the Doctor holding him at gunpoint he's clearly learned to take precautions.

As you can tell from the title, it's Dalek time! And since it's a tale from the 1980s, this also means it's Davros Time as well. Let's see how things end up ''this'' time...[[note]]Spoiler: The Doctor Wins. Again.[[/note]]

* HarsherInHindsight: The Doctor finding what he thinks is his grave becomes more poignant when he actually visits his own grave in "The Name of the Doctor".
** RealitySubtext: This was almost the last Doctor Who episode, as Michael Grade wanted to cancel the show.
