** They're also worn in just about every country that sees snow at least once a year. Pom-pom poof-balls often included. This one is borderline outside the scope of this trope, though, as women tend to prefer light or pastel colours while men tend to prefer dark or bold colours, but exceptions do exist as evidenced by the photo. (The original reference here was for a "balaclava", which is a [[http://i.imgur.com/qU7ftcg.jpg far scarier garment than a tuque]].)

** The entire UsefulNotes/NationalFootballLeague celebrates "breast cancer awareness month" in October (which is a big part of the regular season, given that i only runs September-December) by somewhat loosening the tight uniform rules (players can get fined for so much as a misplaced shoelace or a t-shirt worn underneath the shoulder pads with a design the NFL does not like - even if nobody ever gets to see it) and allowing a whole host of pink uniform pieces and also equipping the refs with pink flags. The players, by all accounts, love it and get really creative with just how much pink they can employ. However, it can become confusing for viewers as pink shoes look just like pink towels or pink penalty flags in a zoomed out picture on a low resolution screen.

In the linked example, he wore it in tribute to a baseball card designer, because pink bubble gum used to be (sometimes still is) included in packs of baseball cards.

It's a style that goes back to at least 200 B.C. and was originally worn by warriors and heroes, or any long-haired guys who just wanted to stay cool.

* Lots Believe it or not, lots of men are into stuff like knitting and crocheting, knitting, probably for the same reason that all those football players are into stuff like needlepoint: it's relaxing--good for a person's relaxing--studies have proved that knitting reduces blood pressure.pressure, decreases heart rate, and has innumerable benefits for mental health as a whole. Knitting spurs a relaxation response by the body, which can help deter illness.
** A little known fact about knitting is that it was originally was once a predominantly male trade--the first knitting union that was founded in Paris, France was a men's-only thing.

* In the German army all uniforms have color coded edgings on the rank insignia that designate unite type. Pink markings identify a soldier as belonging to a [[TankGoodness tank unit]]. It has been so [[UsefulNotes/NazisWithGnarlyWeapons ever since the Wehrmacht years]]. Though, one should remember that these are the guys going into battle in a mountain of armour and air conditioning. And a priority target.

* Sir Edmund Hillary is notable for two things: Making the biggest mountain on the planet his bitch, and beekeeping. Traditionally the preserve of [[EarthMother willowy ladies]] in big hats.
* Famous grappler Wrestling/GeneLeBell was known for competing in, and frequently winning judo competitions while wearing a pink gi. He didn't set out to do this, however. As [=LeBell=] tells it, he washed his judo gi (which was white) the day of a tournament and didn't realize that there was a piece of red clothing bunched in with it, so naturally the gi was pink when it came out. He had no time to try and bleach it or put together another one, so he decided to go ahead and wear it. The extreme reaction Gene got from angry judo fans prompted Gene to make it a tradition.

Being able to contort your body or stand on your toes (two skills crucial to ballet) are also valuable skills when it comes to gaining those extra four inches of ground or staying ''just'' in bounds to make a catch.
