**The practicality of it in combat also helped, as having long hair was a liability due to being easily grabbed. Not styling the hair like that was TemptingFate for it to be grabbed. Also, loose hair could obscure vision at the most inconvenient of times, such as in a battle, where having clear and unobstructed vision vastly increased one's chances of survival.

* In the German army all uniforms have color coded edgings on the rank insignia that designate unite type. Pink markings identify a soldier as belonging to a [[TankGoodness tank unit]]. It has been so [[UsefulNotes/NazisWithGnarlyWeapons ever since the Wehrmacht years]]. Though, one should remember that these are the guys going into battle in a priority target of armour and air conditioning.

* Despite its "sissy" reputation, ballet dancing is actually a lot harder and more physically demanding than it looks, causing many manly men to take up ballet or have it in their background.

* Despite its "sissy" reputation, ballet dancing (and, by extension, dancing in general) is actually a lot much harder and more physically demanding than it looks, causing many manly men what a lot of people think ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooBmaKSWGuo&t here's a video that shows a trio of male bodybuilders trying to take up do ballet or have it in their background.for the first time]]).

* Believe it or not, lots of men are into stuff like knitting, probably for the same reason that all those football players are into stuff like needlepoint: it's relaxing--studies have proved that knitting reduces blood pressure, decreases heart rate, and has innumerable benefits for mental health as a whole. Knitting spurs a relaxation response by the body, which can help deter illness.

** They're also worn in just about every country that sees snow at least once a year. Pom-pom poof-balls often included. This one is borderline outside the scope of this trope, though, as women tend to prefer light or pastel colours while men tend to prefer dark or bold colours, but exceptions do exist as evidenced by the photo. (The original reference here was for a "balaclava", which is a [[http://i.imgur.com/qU7ftcg.jpg far scarier garment than a tuque]].)

** The entire UsefulNotes/NationalFootballLeague celebrates "breast cancer awareness month" in October (which is a big part of the regular season, given that i only runs September-December) by somewhat loosening the tight uniform rules (players can get fined for so much as a misplaced shoelace or a t-shirt worn underneath the shoulder pads with a design the NFL does not like - even if nobody ever gets to see it) and allowing a whole host of pink uniform pieces and also equipping the refs with pink flags. The players, by all accounts, love it and get really creative with just how much pink they can employ. However, it can become confusing for viewers as pink shoes look just like pink towels or pink penalty flags in a zoomed out picture on a low resolution screen.
