\n* The way the Shulkers kill you is by levitating you up in the air, so you die of fall damage. Imagine floating up, up, up, knowing that you won't survive the fall when the effects inevitably runs out. To top it off, their projectiles track you.

* [[FloatingContinent THE]] [[EldritchLocation END.]] Imagine a world with no stars, no moon or sun, the sky a void made of static noise, no trees, entirely made of a barren, dry stone and [[AlienGeometries weird, obsidian towers]]. No oceans, no villages, no forms of life besides a throng of Endermen mindlessly walking around until they spot you. Add a humongous dragon supposedly made of antimatter which can spit corrosive acid, heal itself using enigmatic crystals, and ''[[RealityWarper DELETE EVERYTHING YOU BUILD TO STOP IT BY MERELY MAKING CONTACT WITH IT]]'', and that's The End. And once you beat the Dragon, if you come back there for any reason, everything will be gone. It is speculated that Endermen are stealing blocks from your world to attempt and restore their dimension, which the Ender Dragon has turned into the barren, moon-like floating islands.
** It's a PointOfNoReturn. The only way out is to kill [[FinalBoss the Enderdragon]]...or die. Let's just say that on [[FinalDeath Hardcore mode]], you damn better be carrying enough weaponry and food. Plus, you can't quit until you beat the dragon, or else when you come back to the game, there'll be another one.
** The 1.4.2 update gave the Ender Dragon its own sounds; actual dragon like sounds mixed in with bass undertones. Its death sound is especially unnerving to say the least.
** Now you can go to the outer islands, which have a warped forest of purple coral-like [[AlienKudzu Chorus Flowers]], and occasional treehouse-like cities filled with hostile mobs disguised as blocks. It's easy to get lost and never find the link to the main island with the only exit to the real world if you don't make a trail. The End also now has it's own music, which starts out sounding like one of the regular songs but just...wrong, somehow, and devolves into glitchy, ambient tones, and the occasional bits of familiar pieces of the background music drifting by.
*** Here's something to put the fear in you. The Ender Cities are basically abandoned, as the Endermen likely aren't the ones who built them, not frequenting them in the same way villagers do with villages in the Overworld. That leaves the quest of just what happened to their original inhabitants.
*** Or, alternatively, assuming the Endermen ''are'' the original inhabitants, [[Main/HumanoidAbomination what happened to them...?]]

* While the 1.6 update was for the most part heartwarming and awesome with the addition of horses, a DummiedOut kind of horse leads to a kind of zombie horse. It can still be spawned in and is reasonably friendly, but looks nightmarish compared to its living counterparts.
** There's a skeleton version too.

* The Wither. An EldritchAbomination with three heads. It can shoot skulls that inflict a form of poison that can actually kill you for once. It also can destroy ice and will also attack any passive mobs. It's not certain where it spawns, but my money's on the Nether. Just think... Walking the Nether, no trouble, then "oh god, what is that?!"

* Some [[SarcasmMode kindly]] contributors at deviantART have been kind enough to provide us with approximations of what each mob would look like in a realistic setting. * Beta 1.8 also added the [[http://i.imgur.com/XEkal.png Endermen]], a terrifying cross between [[SlenderManMythos Slender Man]] and [[Series/DoctorWho a Weeping Angel]]. [[http://notch.tumblr.com/post/8208212863/the-psychology-of-the-reticle-and-the-feeling-of This blog post]] explains exactly what they do. When you have one in your sights, it looks right at you, opens its mouth, and starts shaking and smoking [[spoiler:it keeps shaking even when you pause the game]].

** However, from 1.9 onwards, you are now given the opportunity to respawn in spectator mode to view the final state of the world as you left it when you were killed. It gives you a very uneasy feeling to look at all your hard work one last time, and you simply cannot help but wonder what potential there still was. Whether you accept this opportunity or not, [[LostForever your save file still gets deleted once you leave the world]].
