* Tuxedo Mask in general can be hard to take seriously. It's hard to be a mysterious, swav badass protector when your powers seem to singularly consist of giving cornball speeches about never giving up and throwing roses. When [[spoiler:he's eventually kidnapped by the Dark Kingdom to activate his SuperpoweredEvilSide Prince Endymion]], you'd expect him to gain a level in badass and pose a serious threat. Instead, he...pretty much acts the same, aside from acting slightly rude to Sailor Moon, and throwing black roses.Sailor Moon R then gives us Moonlight Knight, a version who's undergoing some amnesia and dressing in an {{Aladin}}esque outfit, complete with Arabian costume and scimitar who takes the [[PurpleProse flowery speeches]] and [[SidetrackedByTheAnalogy pretentious, vaguely space-related metaphors]] [[UpToEleven to an art form]]. It's so over the top cheese it loops around to being [[NarmCharm awesome]].

* The many 'friendship speeches' delivered by Sailor Moon probably count as such, as they are usually said right before the villains prior to their battles and naturally the response they get is a ridiculing scoff. Such moments are hilariously out of place and painfully anvilicious given what we know is about to follow by the time they're done preaching, so when one of the villains actually takes the time to call out how silly it is that they even bother with these speeches it's usually justified.
* The 'Sailor Says' segments that would accompany the end of every episode of the first season as part of the English dub, which were not an uncommon gimmick for the time. These segments usually offered lessons on good manners, healthy living, self-confidence, etc. that otherwise had nothing to do with the episode to precede them as they were played over an assortment of clips from the series. Such segments certainly lent themselves to the UnintentionalPeriodPiece the anime could be.

The script editor later admitted in an interview that he half-assed those segments on purpose, since it was [[ExecutiveMeddling demanded by American execs that childrens' shows had to have an aesop in every episode]].

** The movie has Fiore dramatically shoving Usagi in slow motion, which shocks everyone. Made especially hilarious in the English dub.

** What makes this better/worse is that the movies were [[MarthDebutedInSmashBros dubbed and broadcast first before the season that introduces them]], making it their EstablishingCharacterMoment for American and Canadian kids.

*** The modern English cast at Anime Expo 2015 admitted with straight faces [[SoBadItsGood they were looking forward to saying it for that exact reason]].

* "Avacados, papayas, mangoes... ''Rotten fruit.''"

to:

* "Avacados, papayas, mangoes... ''Rotten fruit.''"''" This thankfully gets corrected in the re-dub, since they aren't struggling through a thick Japanese accent.

* Many serious scenes are this because of some of the English voice actors. Serena/Sailor Moon, Darien/Tuxedo Mask, Luna, Amy, Molly, Nephrite, Rini, and the strangely Yoda-sounding Zirconia were prime offenders here.

Serena/Sailor Moon, Darien/Tuxedo Mask, Luna, Amy, Molly, Nephrite, Rini, and the strangely Yoda-sounding Zirconia were prime offenders here. The award has to go to DIC Chibi-Usa/Rini, who had a [[MostAnnoyingSound distinctly nasal, squeaky tone]] that grated like nails on a chalkboard. It was so bad that [[AmericansHateTingle it's blamed at least in part for the character's hatred by the English-speaking fandom]].

** Don't forget this absolutely HILARIOUS exchange from the English dub of Episode 157. Not helped by the fact that Zirconia's dub voice literally sounded like Yoda.

** Even then, the dubbing took a sharp nosedive in quality after Cloverway took over production in the S and Super S seasons. While it ranged from bad, to decent, or even surprisingly good depending on the actor/scene, it was at least [[SoBadItsGood consistently entertaining]]. A few such as Sailor Moon's second actress Terry Hawks even [[TookTheBadFilmSeriously seemed to be putting effort into the role]]. With the cast turnover, the [[TotallyRadical slang]], [[InconsistentDub indecisive attack names]], and [[OohMeAccentsSlipping obvious Canadian accents]] were made more abundant. Linda Ballantyne (Sailor Moon's replacement) was notable for [[PoorMansSubstitute badly mimicking Hawks]] rather than genuinely acting. Again, ExecutiveMeddling is to blame. Oddly, Chibi-Usa's actress was a vast improvement.

** By far the best example of this is the infamous Twister scene in the Cloverway dub, which, if you just play the audio, literally does sound like a lesbian sex scene. And you can even play it with the animation on, since one part literally just shows Mimete lifting her leg up and bending it up and down repeatedly for a good fifteen seconds or so. And it's glaringly obvious that the voice actress knew exactly what we she was doing, too. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApX5dCJGJbw Watch the whole scene here]].

* The Brazilian dub might qualify as well. Starting from the R season, the dubbing company have made several translation mistakes. Just so you have an idea, "Sailor Senshi/Scouts" have been translated to "Sailor Moons". That's right, the sailor senshi were now called the "Sailor Moons". Most of their trademark speeches have been translated to variations of this: "I'm a Sailor Moon, who stands for '''love to the justice'''! I'm Sailor Moon! Sailor Moon will punish you in the name of the moon!". On top of that, some attacks have been affected as well. Remember the "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTaIuSF-Mvg Moon Princess Halation]]" attack? In the Brazilian dub, it was called "'''By the Powers of the Moon Princess's Tiara!'''", which, aside from being a long attack name, has nothing to do with her tiara at all.

* Additionally, Nephrite's Death sometimes feels this way in the Viz dub. Some actually admit that for all its faults, his death scene in the [=DiC=] dub was [[ActuallyPrettyFunny actually rather sad]], with Naru's voice actress giving a pretty good preformance. The Viz dub, however, makes it seem a little more obvious that they're acting, and Naru seems a little less... shocked or sad that Nephrite is dying.

* Other fans think [[TakeAThirdOption the scene's silly in any dub]], as the script requires Naru to cry that [[ItMakesSenseInContext they won't get to eat chocolate parfaits together]], making the whole thing sound ridiculous, even in Japanese. Most would agree it's a tricky scene any way you slice it.

** Amara in general is a really good source of Narm, since her voice actress had to constantly talk with a deep, "butch" voice on top of emoting and matching the mouth flaps, which sometimes makes for some [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixvo_lw8LRc odd delivery]] when put together.

* Pretty much everything that comes out of Molly/Naru's mouth in the original dub. Her unfitting Brooklyn accent sounded 40 years old, and it turned the character into an obnoxious caricature. In Episode 20, the character was required to display a wider range of emotions, including crying. The episode was otherwise handled very well, and is arguably DiC's best-dubbed episode. It would have been perfect had Molly's awful voice not slaughtered the emotion.

Though, it has been opined that at least the VA got the ''emotion'' of her lines spot-on, just with the horrible accent and delivery...
** The accent seems to at least be ''somewhat'' of the actress's natural voice, as she voices Katzie/Koan from ''R'' as well, with a more toned-down version of the accent. Though now, Koan - the youngest, extremely emotional and romantic - sounds like a 50-something chain-smoking waitress as Katzie, the oldest.

** The Cardians in the first arc of the R season can only do PokemonSpeak, and while most of the Viz voice actors are able pull it off well enough, others are more cringeworthy, such as Amaderasu's.
