* AdaptationDistillation: Could be considered one for the previous generation cartoons. This show combines the fantasy & adventure elements of the [[MyLittlePonyTVSpecials original]] [[MyLittlePonyTheMovie G1]] [[MyLittlePonyAndFriends cartoons]], the SliceOfLife style of ''[[MyLittlePonyTales Tales]]'', and most of the mane cast are re-imagined [[MyLittlePonyG3 G3 characters]].
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: This show does this ''a lot''.
** The episode list for Season 1 alone gives us "The Mare in the Moon", "Boast Busters", "Call of the Cutie", "Fall Weather Friends", "Suited for Success", "The Show-Stoppers", "The Cutie Mark Chronicles", and arguably "Owl's Well that Ends Well". And now Season 2 has "Sisterhooves Social", "Hearts and Hooves Day", "The Mysterious Mare-do-well", and most notably [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E15TheSuperSpeedyCiderSqueezy6000 "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy Six-Thousand".]]
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E4ApplebuckSeason Applebuck Season]]", Twilight has this to say to Applejack:
--->'''Twilight:''' Your applebucking hasn't just caused you problems; it's over-propelled a pegasus, practically poisoned plenty of ponies, and terrorized bushels of brand-new bouncing baby bunnies.
** First mentioned in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E3TheTicketMaster The Ticket Master]]", ''the'' annual event everypony wants to attend is called the Grand Galloping Gala.

** "Game Ponies Play" has the team traveling to the Crystal Empire and setting up festivities to impress a games inspector so she'll decide to let the empire host the ponies' version of the Olympics. They end up getting the wrong pony, while the actual inspector has a terrible time. At the end, the two meet and the pony mistaken for the inspector talks about how amazing the empire is. The inspector decides that the empire will host the games, because every other place she visited went out of their way to impress her, while she was told of how great the empire was from a regular pony. The problem is, the only reason the other pony had such a glowing impression of the empire is because she experienced all of the things they had bee planning to do for the inspector, undercutting any message about sincerity.

** "Princess Spike" has ''two'':
*** Spike lears that it's wrong to use his connection to Twilight to make himself feel important by handling her appointment while she's asleep, and then abusing that authority to enjoy a bunch of indulgent perks. The episode illustrates this by having a bunch of orders Spike gave on Twilight's behalf cause a chain reaction that ruins a major diplomatic event, but Spike arranged all of ''those'' events according to his original orders to not let anything disturb her rest. The actual selfish ones go completely unmentioned and with no negative repercussions whatsoever.
*** The message at the end that "things all fall together when we each do our bit part" comes off as shallow at best, and hypocritical at worst, after the Canterlot ponies repeatedly disregarded Spike (thus preventing him from doing ''his'' part) earlier because, as one put it, "[[FantasticRacism I don't need some random dragon's opinion.]]" Additionally, the entire plot is driven by the fact that Twilight, being in charge, is the only one who can error-handle the whole mess, but when she can't due to exhaustion, Spike is meant to be seen as wrong for trying to help because he was trading on her name. Fair enough, but that means Spike got in trouble ''for doing his bit part.''

** "Magical Mystery Cure" has the Mane 6's cutie marks being switched accidentally, and Twilight spends the rest of the episode undoing it by sending them to help each other rediscover their own destinies for themselves, instead of continuing on blindly with the one they were handed by someone else. However...
*** Immediately afterward, Princess Celestia unilaterally transforms Twilight into an alicorn and makes her a princess.
*** All that stuff about teamwork, accepting your friends for who they are, the special bond between friends existing before they've even met, and the importance of honesty fall flat at the end of season three, when we find out that Celestia was having Twilight's friends unwittingly doing her schoolwork for her, and only wanted her to make those friends in the first place so that she would make a suitable princess. Twilight thanks them in her coronation speech, but never tells them how they contributed to her ascension. More directly, in season 4, Twilight uses the Elements of Harmony by herself (albeit to give them up), and Celestia, the closest thing the series has to a BigGood, tells lies of omission all the time.

** Perhaps not quite a Broken Aesop, the episode "Luna Eclipsed" deserves mention. The episode's aesop states that some people(ponies) have trouble finding friends and you should offer them your friendship even if they seem scary or intimidating. However, Luna was getting the hang of friendship with the help of Twilight Sparkle, but every single time somepony would try to be friends with Luna, Pinkie Pie would come in and ruin everything by shrieking and making everypony freak out due to Luna formerly being Nightmare Moon. She then explicitly stated that she knew all along that Luna was not a threat to her or anyone else's well-being. Even worse, Pinkie Pie was never called out on her behavior. Just when Twilight was about to call Pinkie out, Twilight dropped it all because "Sometimes it's just really fun to be scared", Twilight then just rolled with it. Basically instead of making a lesson about taking a joke too far, the lesson was telling people that they should get over their pain if it's all in the name of innocent fun. While this is applicable in real life, Pinkie Pie was making jokes out of an exceptionally dark time in Luna's past and no one around seemed to comprehend the concept of going too far.

** The season four opening episode has Twilight assuring Applejack that even though she has new responsibilities because of her new role as Princess, they'll always remain friends. It breaks because she spent the entire episode ''rejecting'' those new responsibilities in order to be true to her old ones, and was clearly shown to be correct in doing so with the other Mane Six being in the wrong to insist that Twilight uphold her role as a ruler.
** The season four finale ends with a lesson about being patient while you decide on your path in life, but everything about Twilight's life since she was very young has been decided by Celestia, who has been guiding Twilight based on her prior knowledge of the significance of Twilight's cutie mark (and ''just happened'' to take her on as a private student the day that mark appeared). For all the talk about choice and personal discovery, Twilight is TheChosenOne, and everything connected to her was foreordained.

** In "One Bad Apple", the Cutie Mark Crusaders learn the Aesop that when being bullied, instead of retaliating they should tell an adult like Applejack who can handle the situation better. However, the episode ends with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon bullying the CMC in front of Applejack, [[AdultsAreUseless who does nothing]]. Instead, Babs Seed handles things by scaring them off through intimidation, causing them to fall into mud (it isn't clear whether this result was intentional or not). To her credit, Babs does threaten to tell the girls' mothers, but she never carries out said threat, she was in no position to do so because she was about to leave town, and as "Crusaders of the Lost Mark" reveals, [[spoiler: telling Diamond Tiara's mother wouldn't have been a reliable solution, because her mother is the one who taught her to despise and mock blank flanks like the CMC in the first place]].

* ButtMonkey: Really no one is safe from the universe's abuses, and all of the main seven become butt monkey material at some point or another, though Twilight, Spike and Rainbow Dash are the normal targets for suffering. In general, it's a fair bet that if someone starts being overly cute, is afraid, acts like a jerkass, or starts questioning things, something bad will happen to them. It wouldn't be surprising if Unicron simply came along and smashed his big finger on all of Ponyville.
