* NonAppearingTitle: "Clint Eastwood" (its name is derived from a recurring sample from the theme of ''Film/TheGoodTheBadAndTheUgly''), "Feel Good Inc." (though the phrase "feel good" does appear), "Empire Ants" (thought the word "empire" appears), "Every Planet We Reach Is Dead", "Fire Coming Out of a Monkey's Head" (though that phrase ''does'' appear on [[SiameseTwinSongs the very next song on the album]]. "Dirty Harry" (named such because of the references to gun violence in the song, as well as because Clint Eastwood played Film/DirtyHarry in the titular film), "19-2000" (named after the Jeep that was used by the group to drive around), "Slow Country" (though it comes close), and 5/4 (Rooting from the time-signature used in the song).

** The music video for "Stylo" leads directly into the "On Melancholy Hill".
** Don't Get Lost In Heaven flows almost perfectly into Demon Days

* NewTechnologyIsEvil: The basis of "Busted and Blue", a lament on technology's dominating effect on humanity.

Added DiffLines:

** The opening of "[=M1A1=]" samples ''Film/DayOfTheDead''.
** The source of the loud, distorted scream in the middle of "Ascension" has been speculated to be a meme. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJhH4Uu2k6k No, really.]]

* NewSoundAlbum: All of them, really: ''Gorillaz'' laid the foundation of the band's sound, ''Music/DemonDays'' introduced a darker, more theatrical version of that, ''Music/PlasticBeach'' took ''that'' and added a tropical vibe (along with over a dozen guest artists), and ''The Fall''... somehow managed to be even more of a departure than the others, going in a completely new direction and incorporating elements of ambient, blues, and chillwave. It's fair to say that Gorillaz doesn't bother putting out a new album unless they're doing something new.

''Humanz'' also goes in brand new direction, with a much more modern sound with some R&B elements. It's fair to say that Gorillaz doesn't bother putting out a new album unless they're doing something new.

* AnimalMotif: Apes, for obvious reasons. Noodle seems to be developing a cat motif, if the video for "Strobelite" is anything to go by.
