* ''Music/TheAquabats'' seem to love writing epic songs about relatively mundane things:
** "CD Repo Man!" is a song about a ruthless mercenary... whose job it is to break into people's houses and steal back borrowed music [=CDs=].
--->''With CD Repo Man, that guy is on a roll\\
He'll jump through windows to get back what those suckers stole\\
He looks tame, but you know he will attack\\
He does his job to get your [=CDs=] back!''
** "Dear Spike!" is a comically enthusiastic thank-you note, based on a real letter written by an Aquacadet, to the delivery-man who brought him his fan-club package.
** "I Fell Asleep On My Arm!" is a NuMetal parody about a guy freaking out when his arm falls asleep in class.
** "The Baker!" makes being a baker sound downright epic.
--->''Up in the morning to start my work\\
I cannot help wanting to bake a dessert\\
Like a gladiator about to meet his fate\\
I enter the arena, bow my head, and start to bake''
** "Poppin' A Wheelie!" is a song about a guy who is really enthusiastic about the simple pleasure of doing wheelies on his bicycle.
--->''When you see me outside with my wind-swept hair\\
Riding by with my wheel in the air\\
You'll never see me happier, you'll never see me happier\\
Than when I pull those handlebars and get 'em in the air!''

** The first bit of SeriousBusiness press Music/TheBeatles got in America was a critique of the song "Not A Second Time", an album track featured on ''[[Music/WithTheBeatles Meet The Beatles]]'' (''Music/WithTheBeatles'' in the UK). The ending of the song was described by rock critic William Mann as having "Aeolian cadences". John Lennon was bemused at this, saying he had no idea what "Aeolian cadences" were, and that they sounded to him like some kind of exotic bird.

* The Music/TheWhiteStripes song "Jimmy The Exploder" is about [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext a monkey jumping on a bed and destroying everything that isn't red]].

* Music/DeepPurple's "Smoke on the Water" can be summarised as follows: "We travelled to a city in Switzerland to make a recording using a mobile studio. While we were there, a fire broke out in a neighbouring and more desirable venue. Thanks to the swift action of venue personnel, there were no casualtiesm and our recording schedule was not materially affected."

* The Voice Australia has already fallen into this with it's advert featuring Seal, [[GoodCharlotte Joel Madden]], and DeltaGoodrem, all in slow motion, with some epic music behind them. It's a talent show.

* Several songs by Music/TheBeatles. "Helter Skelter" from ''Music/TheWhiteAlbum'' is often cited by music historians as one of the first metal songs. The basic purpose of the song was to be as loud, raucous, and heavy as possible. This is the song that caused Ringo Starr to throw his drumsticks across the room and shout "I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!" Yet the lyrics are about a slide at an amusement park.

* One of Music/LonelyIsland's main gimmicks:
** "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7yfISlGLNU I'm on a Boat]]" is a badass rap about someone who thinks he's amazing because he's on a boat. He doesn't even claim to own the boat. He's just physically on it.
** "Lazy Sunday," about two guys who go see ''Film/TheLionTheWitchAndTheWardrobe'' on a Sunday afternoon. They brag about sneaking snacks inside and answering the pre-movie trivia questions correctly.
** There's also "Who Said We're Wack?", which has an epic battle-rap backing complete with dramatic strings, and is written as though calling someone "wack" is the gravest insult imaginable ("How could a person up and call a person wack?/ How could the devil turn the blue sky black?").
** "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NisCkxU544c Like a Boss]]"
** "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLnWf1sQkjY I just ate a grape and I jizzed. In. My. Pants.]]"

** Speaking of singers and their pets, Music/MichaelJackson's "Ben" comes to mind, which is a passionate song about his love for a pet rat.
* In ''Film/TenaciousDInThePickOfDestiny'', Creator/JackBlack's character envisions himself literally blowing up someone's head with the power of the Pick. Even more awesome is that this doesn't stop him: he apologizes to the head-asplode man ''in the song'':
-->'''Jack Black''' I did not mean...\\
'''Kyle Glass''' He did not mean...\\
'''JB''' To blow your mind...\\
'''KG''' To blow your mind...\\
'''JB''' But that shit happens to me...'''ALL THE TIME!!!!'''
** Hell, the entire movie is pretty much made of this trope.
* '''Music/{{Manowar}}''', when they're not touching on [[HeavyMithril traditionally epic fantasy subject matter]], are giving similar treatment to the fact that they play HeavyMetal music—of which the heaviness and metallicness of such they are more than happy to [[BadassBoast boast]]—and how awesome the listener is for listening to their very heavy and very metallic HeavyMetal music.
