Since Stands take the form of console excluses, [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation some fans speculate that Switch was]] [[WillfullyWeak still not showing off all her Stands]] given the number of other exclusives Nintendo has. The non-canonical Sunday comics, which were used to [[FourthWallMailSlot have the characters show off]] fan art, fan fiction, and side stories, meant Dave got to directly see himself rendered as a badass, began demanding the comic change artists, and gave him a (somewhat implied, but outright mentioned once) canonical man-crush on Willis. Coincidentally, the comic's artist eventually married this fan artist. And Dave ultimately went on to [[spoiler:become amazingly badass in a [[MadScientist completely different, somewhat nerdy]] way.]]

When asked why, the response is because Kaff is, famously, a "destroyer of battleplates." (It's a bit like [[Franchise/StarWars Wedge Antilles getting a reputation for surviving two Death Stars]].) Karl panics a bit, since he figures anyone wanting to try some payback might figure picking up friends and family to be an easier proposition than going after Kaff directly. (Karl himself has a reputation from a particular civil war: "If you don't take him out in the initial salvo, '''your side automatically loses'''. He will agree, though, that making him an enemy is a bad idea.)
