** Ryōko's CuteAndPsycho traits are gone; she acts as a big-sister figure to Yuki, periodically advising her on how to get along with Kyon, and generally concerns herself with being a ProperLady to keep the others in check. At her worst, she's merely overbearing rather than murderous.

* TookALevelInKindness: Kyon and Haruhi are both noticeably nicer than their original characters, but this is most apparent with Ryōko, whose psychotic tendencies are discarded entirely. Ironically, as a normal person instead of an alien, she's no longer 100% nice all the time, such as when attempting murder. But the occasions she gets upset or pushy come free of killer impulses, so it's still a net gain of kindness.

However, this peace does not last: shortly after celebrating Christmas together, Kyon and Yuki encounter none other than Haruhi Suzumiya, who'd been camped out at the park in an attempt to capture Santa Claus. Her boisterous presence and actions result in Itsuki Koizumi, Mikuru Asahina and Tsuruya joining the Literature club. Kyon and Yuki are suddenly thrown into adventures and mysteries that gradually, but surely, closes the distance between the two. As they spend more time together, hints of a LoveTriangle begin to materialise, as well. An AnimatedAdaptation produced by Satelight was aired as part of the Spring2015Anime season, and an OVA also aired during October 2015. Because the manga is ongoing, some spoilers for Disappearance are unmarked.
