* DoubleStandard[=/=][[LoliconandShotacon]][=/=]ValuesDissonance: Averted for the most part when it comes to Amu and Ikuto's relationship ([[spoiler:Amu is 12 while Ikuto is 17]]) considering that outside of a few of Ikuto's classmates who teased him about it briefly, nobody in-universe seems to care (Well, Tadase does, but thats less because he's 17 and more because he's [[ForgottenFriendNewFoe Ikuto.]][[spoiler: When he reconciles with him, he's completely fine with it.]]). In fandoms though; of course, since the older one is a [[MenAreTheExpendableGender male]], [[BrokenBase the fanbase is really divided.]]

Added DiffLines:

* AmplifierArtifact: The Humpty Lock that was given to [[TheHeroine Amu]] by the Guardians appears at first to be a TransformationTrinket, but since other characters don't need the Lock around to transform, it's actually this trope. Without it, Amu can only do a partial Character Change for a short time, but with it, she can do a full Character Transformation with any of her three Charas...[[HilarityEnsues and]] other people's Chara's can [[InvoluntaryTransformation force her into a transformation]] on a whim!
** The Dumpty Key, which is carried by [[AntiVillain Ikuto]], is an AmplifierArtifact that applies [[UpToEleven to the Humpty Lock's own amplification]]! When the Key is finally inserted into the Lock [[EleventhHourSuperpower in the penultimate episode]], Amu and Ikuto both temporarily gain the ability to [[AllYourPowersCombined merge with all their own Charas at once]].

Added DiffLines:

* DespairEventHorizon: When a kid succumbs to this, their Heart's Egg turns into an X-Egg. Since X-Eggs are the [[MonsterOfTheWeek Monsters of the Week]] of the series, and Easter needs to gather lots of them to power their evil machines and find [[MacGuffin the Embryo]], a LOT of kids fall over the brink in [[SerialEscalation increasing numbers]], from one-on-one MindRape sessions with [[TheMole Nikaidou]] to hundreds and hundreds of listeners to MagicMusic. Luckily, Amu's [[CareBearStare Open]] [[SignatureMove Heart]] and some other Character Transformed characters' moves can purify the X-Eggs and save the eggs' owners from despair, complete with LaserGuidedAmnesia to cover up the supernatural events involved.
** However, if an X-Egg is physically attacked, it breaks, meaning a kid's dream is lost forever. The Guardians take pains to prevent this from happening, and only attack X-Eggs in non-lethal ways.

* {{Filler}}: Yes. Shugo Chara is a MONTHLY manga, it's primarily aimed for kids, and there's not much TV Tokyo can do about it, seeing that the manga releases are SLOW. It didn't help that Peach-Pit was also doing RozenMaiden and ''Manga/ZombieLoan'' at the same time they made this.

Yuuka Maeda was cast as Amu, the leading role, and Kanon Fukuda was cast as Nadeshiko. The other two girls played generic female students and the X-eggs.
